An Ode to Shiba Kaien
(Rukia's Point of View)

Author's Note: We were learning about odes in school so… I figured I'd write one just for fun (in addition to the one I had to do) in order to prove that I can use things in I learn at school for fun! This will actually be my first Bleach fic so I hope it's alright. The top basically explains what it is… so yeah… I decided to write it from Rukia's POV as that makes it all the more beautiful and depressing. Also... please R&R!

Though you suffered a dark, devastating way to die
With me your heart will always lie
You fought for others, died for pride
In my arms you lay as I cried, and cried
I watched, wide-eyed, throughout your fight
Your death, to me, it seemed not right, yet you lay there motionless in the lightless night
As red rain spread, I became a wreck, racked with sobs my body shook
At the lifeless form that lay in my arms I dared not look
Though we were drenched, I dare not leave
Holding you close, this is how I grieve
I remember the fight, the rain, how the wind blew
I remember the instant my sword went through you… What did I do?
As time passed, night darkened, the wind continued to blow, I finally looked down at your figure
black… bloody… still
A new wave of sadness and anger washed over me, how could I have made the kill?
I felt guilt, pain, anger. My heart quickened in my chest
I had been the one to put my love to rest
But you wouldn't want me to live in pain, this I know
So into that dark place of sadness and guilt I won't go as it would not be your wish Kaien-dono
