The tan, young lady sat next to the pale, lanky young man. The violet-eyed blonde boy was actually relaxed for once since his older, muscular, and dumber brother hadn't caused him any physical or mental pain recently.
"...And when I went down the stairs, he didn't trip me!" Matthew said excitedly.
Lovina rolled her hazel eyes at her friend's newest acclamation of his freedom from his brother's taunting.
"And guess what else! When I-"
"Shut up!" Lovina snapped.
Matthew's eyes darted to look down at his friend, scared and shocked. He tensed up and nervously shook. Lovina realized what she did and felt embarrassed and ashamed. She sighed.
"Sorry." she grumbled, pulling her knees to her chest.
"What?" Matthew asked, wiping a few tears from his eyes.
Lovina let out a big sigh and stared deeply at Matthew.
"I'M SORRY!" she exclaimed.
Matthew scrambled to find the right way to respond. Lovina, one of the most feared girls in school, actually showed a sign of compassion. Instead of using words, he used something that Canadians were best at. His arms reached out and wrapped around his friend's shoulders and he embraced her. Lovina was taken aback and she blushed. The soft touch of Matthew was all that she really longed for and the rush of emotions overcame her. Tears streamed down her face and she felt embarrassed.
"Goddammit you fucker!" she mumbled.
Matthew disregarded the comment and hugged her tighter. Lovina absorbed the warm feelings from the hug, but only for a while. She wriggled free from his arms and quickly wiped her tears.
"Gesu Cristo, Matteo. You're really fucking sappy!" Lovina said.
Matthew didn't take offense to the comment and giggled. Lovina bashfully smiled but quickly frowned. Matthew's gaze met Lovina's and he grinned at her. Her heartbeat raced and she knew that it was now or never. She put her hand on Matthew's knee, digging her fingernails into his skins as she worked up the courage to say the words. Matthew was confused and in pain.
"Um...Lovina-"
"Matteo," she deeply inhaled and exhaled "TI AMO!" she yelled.
She didn't mean to yell it, but it just came out that way. Silence came between them and each second that Matthew said nothing, she began to feel more foolish for saying those words.
"W-what does that mean?" Matthew asked with a puzzled expression.
Her short temper fueled inside her. It means I fucking love you, you ass!, she want to say. She contained her anger by not saying that.
