Mr. Bumble
Jackie walked past Jasmine's room, she expected to see her sitting at her little table coloring a picture but instead Jasmine was sitting on her bed sobbing.
"Jasmine, what's wrong sweetheart?" Jackie asked as she went and sat down next to her on the bed.
"Me be really good, me go quietly to the carpet, and me sit criss-cross apple sauce and me face forward and me still not get to hold Mr. Bumble." She said in between sobs.
Mr. Bumble was a stuffed animal bee in Jasmine's classroom, each of the students in Jasmine's class got a turn to hold Mr. Bumble while Mrs. Rice read them a story.
"Oh sweetheart, you'll get a turn, I know about Mr. Bumble because Mrs. Rice was my teaching partner for a lot of years and I know for sure that she has a clipboard with all of her students names on it and when a student gets to hold Mr. Bumble Mrs. Rice puts a checkmark by their name so she knows who has had a turn and who hasn't." Jackie assured her.
Jasmine gave her a small smile.
"You know sometimes when mommy is giving things to her students like treats or whatever it may be, as I'm passing them out they say Mrs. Stokes I didn't get one yet and I always tell them that they'll get one, they just have to be patient because there is only one of me and a lot of them so it will take me a minute to get to everyone but everyone will get one. That's the same thing with your class and Mr. Bumble kiddo, there are a lot of students but only one Mr. Bumble, so eventually every student will get to hold him, you just have to be patient ok?"
"Ok mommy." Jasmine answered.
"And I'm very proud of you for being such a good listener and going to the carpet the way Mrs. Rice asked you too, and I know Mrs. Rice is proud of you for it too." Jackie told her as she smiled at her.
Jasmine beamed proudly at the praise.
"You ok?" Jackie asked her as she wrapped her arms around her.
"Yeah." Jasmine said, seemingly cheered up dramatically.
"Good, why don't you come downstairs and play a game with us, you can be on mommy's team with Johnna and Sloan. Karlie and Houston will be on daddy's team."
"Baby Hundy?" She asked.
"Baby Hundley is wiped out, she already fell asleep."
"Her tired?" Jasmine asked.
"Yep she was tired." Jackie answered.
"Girls are you ready to play?" Nick asked as he called up the stairs.
"Yep, we'll be there in just a minute." Jackie called back.
"Ok." Nick answered.
"We better get down there." Jackie told Jasmine.
"Yeah." Jasmine agreed eagerly.
Jackie and Jasmine went downstairs, Jasmine had apparently forgotten all about her disappointment about Mr. Bumble.
