"We had to do a team building exercise, on this particular day?" Connor said, groaning as he pulled the bags along to the camp site.
"Look, Temple, nothing's going to happen, it's all superstition." Becker said, setting his bag down and standing up straight. "The worst that could happen here is getting bitten by a bug." he chuckled.
"What?" Jess screeched, as she walked into the campsite herself. "I am not getting bitten by another bug. Not in this lifetime." she said, as Abby and Matt joined the rest of the team.
"Lester should be here. It's not fair that we have to come here and he doesn't." Matt said.
"I know. He's no better than us, despite what he thinks to himself." Becker replied, starting to set up one of the tents.
"And on this particular day. It's madness! What if the ghost girl from The Grudge comes for us?" he screamed.
"Don't worry, I'll protect you from any little ghoulies and ghosties." Becker said sarcastically, grinning.
The men set out to put the tents up. Jess enjoyed watching Becker struggle to put the poles up. He'd gotten too hot, and taken his shirt off. The temperature was pretty unusual for this time of year. It was nothing too new, still unpredictable British weather.
To be honest, Becker, despite not having any real superstitions, was still pretty worried about staying in the forest over the night of Friday the 13th. He'd heard some of Connor's stories. About how one time, he'd camped out in a tree house over night on Friday the 13th and ended up running inside because of witnessing paranormal happenings. He didn't believe it, of course. But Connor, however did have a way of telling stories, which made them some-how believable.
Night came quickly, and complete darkness took over the campsite. The fire was lit still, taking some of that darkness away. "Connor and I are going to sleep now, everybody. We'll see you tomorrow morning." Abby announced.
"Night." the rest of the team chorused, before going back to their conversations. That was when everything took a turn for the frightening.
Becker, travelling back to his friends after taking a piss on a tree near by, saw a squirrel. Not any normal squirrel. This squirrel had no iris or pupil. And the white of it's eyes were… red. He expected this to be nothing but a hallucination, but was proved wrong when the squirrel swung for him, with claws with already fresh blood dripping off of them. He staggered back towards the campsite, struggling to keep the squirrel away from his face. He didn't want to seem weak, but the squirrel had super… animal strength.
"Hijajsahdaaaaaaaaahbhelp!" Becker shouted as he reached the campsite. "Evil… squirrel… attacking… me… aaaaaaaaaaah." Everyone laughed. Until Becker stumbled into the campsite with a bloodthirsty squirrel trying to rip his throat out. Matt ran to the truck, grabbed an EMD and shot the squirrel, killing it instantly.
Connor peered out of his tent smiling evilly. "Told you."
"Let's get out of here." Matt said, racing with the rest of the team to the trucks, leaving everything where it was until morning.
