He never thought it would happen, never in a million years did he expect this to happen but it did and now he's alone and it's all still a blur as to how it happened all he remembers is her tear's streaming down her gorgeous face and the strained, hurt tone of her word's coming from her mouth. He also remembers hearing her say that she was sick of the lies and scheme's and that she's done and that she love's him with all her heart and that there is no one else but she can't take it anymore and that it's over, all over. Then he was pushed out the door and he heard it slam shut. Zack stood there in front of apartment 23B a single tear slipping down his cheek and he stares at the space that used to contain her, Kelly his wife and he just turn's and walk's away and sits in his car and it's raining now and the radio is turned on to country and the song What Hurt's The Most By: Rascal Flatts and he knows that he should change it because he's crying even more now because this was her favorite song but he doesn't, he just sit's there listening and crying and remembering as the song play's.
I can take
the rain on the roof of this empty house
That don't bother me
I
can take a few tears now and then and just let ?em out
I'm not
afraid to cry every once in a while even though
Goin' on with you
gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend
I'm okay
But that's not what gets me
What hurts the
most
Was being so close
And havin' so much to say
And
watchin' you walk away
And never knowin'
What could've
been
And not seein' that lovin' you
Is what I was tryin' to
do
It's hard to deal with the pain of losin' you everywhere I
go
But I'm doin' it
It's hard to force that smile when I see
our old friends and I'm alone
Still harder gettin' up, gettin'
dressed, livin' with this regret
But I know if I could do it
over
I would trade, give away all the words that I saved in my
heart
That I left unspoken
What hurts the most
Is being
so close
And havin' so much to say
(Much to say)
And
watchin' you walk away
And never knowin'
What could've
been
And not seein' that lovin' you
Is what I was tryin' to do,
oh
Oh yeah
What hurts the most
Was being so close
And
havin' so much to say
(To say)
And watchin' you walk away
And
never knowin'
What could've been
And not seein' that lovin'
you
Is what I was tryin' to do
Not seein' that lovin'
you
That's what I was trying to do, ooo
But now it's over, the song end's with a strum of a guitar and he look's up at the large apartment window wondering what Kelly's doing and it hurt's to think about it because Zack knows what he did and he feel's so bad but it's over just lie the song and he rip's his hazel eye's away from the window, lean's back and look's the other way, hen down at the steering wheel, so he turn's the key in the ignition and slowly drive's away from the parking lot he's in and he's on auto-pilot right now because there's no real place he's going to go or at least has in mind but before he knows it he's in front of Bayside, staring at the front of the school and he feel's another tear drip down his tanned face and he bow's his head and sob's, the only sound he hears is the rain, the pumping of his blood through his vein's and the rhythmic sound of his heart and nothing going through his head except her face and memories of high school and college and finally he sit's up, wipe's his eye's and sigh's and in a voice only heard by god he say's "I guess we were just to perfect and I was just to stupid."
