Another story that took root in my mind. Beetlejuice belongs to Warner Brothers and Tim Burton. I own nothing.
A Shoulder Bone To Rest Your Head On
Lydia sighed as she gave up trying to get some sleep. It had been another tough day at school for her and plus, her mother was up late working on another art project, but had music blaring out from her studio, so that made it a bit hard for Lydia to get any sleep. She sat up, hoping her ghostly friend wouldn't mind her crashing at his place. "Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!" She said, juicing herself right into her friend's home, but for some reason, she landed on something hard that let out a startled cry.
"Who is there?!" Asked a voice she recognized and she shook her head rapidly.
"Jacques?" She asked, a little bewildered.
The skeleton sat up and rubbed his eyes before seeing Lydia sitting on him. "Lydia? What happened, chere?" He asked.
"I've been trying to get some sleep, but Mom's working late and has got loud music going and I can't sleep," the girl said. "I came to ask B.J. if he didn't mind me crashing on his couch, but…well, guess I crashed on you instead. Sorry."
"It is alright, chere," Jacques said kindly and scooped up Lydia in his arms and carefully stood up, gently rocking back and forth to soothe his friend.
"Jacques?" She asked in confusion.
"Shh, shh," he gently hushed her before he began humming softly.
Lydia somehow managed to lift her head and look up at him. "Jacques, are you…trying to lull me to sleep?" She asked, having to pause as a yawn hit her.
In response, she felt him rub her back, which she took as a yes as she rested her head on his shoulder, another yawn hitting her as Jacques continued humming, rocking his young friend to help her fall asleep.
And Lydia was rapidly starting to fall asleep, but she then gripped the skeleton's shoulder. "Jacques, I'm sorry," she said.
He stopped humming and turned to her. "For what, Lydia?" He asked gently.
"For disturbing you," she said.
"Oh, chere, it was an accident," Jacques said reassuringly. "Plus, I don't mind. Between you and me, better you than Beetlejuice to bug me at this hour."
Lydia giggled, clapping a hand to her mouth to prevent her giggles from getting too loud as the skeleton chuckled, one hand gently guiding the human's head to rest on his shoulder as he then resumed humming and rocking her. Clutching to her friend, the black-haired girl didn't mind that her head was resting on just bones. As long as she could finally go to sleep, she didn't care what made her pillow.
"Hey, Jacques?" She asked, covering her mouth as a yawn hit her again.
"Oui?" He asked.
"Is…Is it okay…if I crash on your couch?" She asked.
"My couch is currently being reupholstered," he said. "But, if you don't mind, my bed is big enough."
She smiled. "As long as you don't mind," she said.
Nodding, Jacques got back in his bed and tucked Lydia in before realizing he didn't have an extra pillow for her, but she found a solution to that by cuddling up beside her friend and using his shoulder once again as a pillow. Chuckling, Jacques settled down, placing a protective arm around his friend, returning the cuddle.
"Thank you, Jacques," he heard her say softly as she fell asleep.
"You're welcome, chere," he said softly, falling back asleep as well.
Just a little short, fluffy story between two friends. I see Jacques as like a big brother figure for Lydia cause he's a big softy. ;)
