Hey guys! Okay, so I wrote this story maybe like 4 or 5 years ago, and I hadn't looked at it since. In between now and then, I graduated high school and am now in college. I went through and read it, and while it has potential, it basically sucked and I didn't get very far anyway. So I went through and edited the crap out of it, and I'd love to write more for the story. Tell me what you guys think! I don't own night world, yada yada. Review!
Today was the first day of senior year. Jace Redfern was popular, smooth, and outrageously hot and he knew it. He had lived in Vegas for the past two years and he hadn't been to his old high school since the 10th grade. He was interested to see how this year would pan out.
Like most boys, he was interested in girls, and unlike most boys, there was something about Jace Redfern that girls couldn't stay away from. In fact, people joked while he lived in Las Vegas for a year and a half that he was the younger version of his cousin, Ash Redfern.
Jace was 18 years old, and as far as he was concerned, the sky was the limit. And for him it really was. Jace Redfern was a Vampire, a Lamia, the best kind of vampire to be. And all of Montessoka High School awaited his return with great anticipation. (I have no idea if that is a real school. as far as I'm concerned I made it up.)
(The awaiting crowd of Jace Redfern)
First day of school...
"Ohmigawd, did you hear, Jace Redfern is coming back today?"
"Duh, everyone knows that, why else would I wear my extra push-up bra?"
Similar talk freely flowed from the mouths of almost all the girls at Montessoka High, excluding a duo made of Amy Parlor and her best friend, Molly Hastings.
"Wow, these people seem to be really excited to see this Jace guy." Molly looked at her best friend as though she had a million heads. "Have you not seen…. Oh, wait you moved here a few months after he left. The guy is a legend, not only for being uncommonly good-looking, according to most of the female population of Montessoka, but also for his reputation involving what I'm sure is an exaggerated number of bed notches." Amy laughed at Molly, who took no care in hiding her distaste for such a person. "Well, I'm sure we won't have to worry about that." Molly and Amy laughed together as they walked the hallways alone, while girls of all shapes and sizes eagerly waited a certain Redfern's presence.

Amy Parlor had moved to California from a small town in Virginia a year and a half earlier, just missing a possible introduction to Jace. As soon as she had arrived, Amy sunk into the crowd like most any other person. She had soft brown, chestnut colored hair, warm chocolate colored eyes, and a coffee skin-tone. While certainly pretty, she blended in well with the other girls at Montessoka. Amy had a kind face, and eyes that filled people with a feeling of peacefulness. And although not quite shy, she tended to be more reserved in nature. So, in her first week of school, when Amy needed a place to sit at lunch, she gravitated to a table with a single occupant. Amy met Molly, (who stuck out with her striking white-blond hair, skinny figure, and clear violet eyes) they chatted, they laughed, and became inseparable.

"Baby, are you ready to go?" Jace's mother yelled up the stair.
"Yeah, mom, almost ready." He called back. He took one last glance in the mirror, winked, rolled his eyes as his own behavior, and headed down the stairs.
Jace was, in the real world, the kind of person girls wanted to be seen with. It was subtle, as is real life, but not to be denied. People always associated good-looks with blond hair, washboard abs, tan skin, and deep pockets. But the girls at Montessoka High School had a different visage in mind. Jace had black hair that was styled in what girls always called the "simple-effortless cut." He was fairly pale, but not pasty, more cream-like. And built like a god. Jace Redfern was a prime example of the kind of boy mothers warned their daughters about.
Jace ran downstairs, grabbed his backpack, kissed his mom on the cheek, received a pat on the back from his dad, and was on his way to school in his shiny silver Mazda. A crooked smile, which seemed to scream confidence, graced his lips in the unspoken fashion of a king about to ascend to the throne.

Jace pulled up to the school, his car gliding into the parking space. He casually checked his hair and teeth before grabbing his bag and stepping onto the asphalt of Montessoka High Schools student parking lot.
His mind quickly assessed all that was taking place around him and the people that had noticed him as well.
"Jace, good to see ya man!" Josh Boatwright, friend.
"I heard you were coming back, bro!" George Ferro, douche bag of the century.
"Hiya, Jace!" Melanie Trenton, double D. Jace sent a salut and grin her way. I'll need to remember to get her number, he though to himself.
"Oh my gosh, it's the glorious Jace Redfern! I love you, Jace! Take me, please!" Denver, Jaces best friend since primary school, blurted out in a high, obnoxious voice, that included a dramatic hand to the forehead for flair.
"Shut up, you moron." Jace said in a dismissive tone, but struggled to hold in his laughter. They united to perform the mandatory "bro-hug," as they made their way inside the brick building of the high school, also picking up Jarret Collins, Hugh Mclaughin, and Braydon Joiner, Jace's other best friends.
All five had been best friends since their parents had sent them to Littleton elementary school. They bonded quickly and happily as they were all the same. Vampires, that is. And all of them had the same opinion when it came to human girls. They were vermin, but with nice cars, nice bodies, and essentially only good for one thing besides their blood. And the majority didn't mind the attention one bit.

Amy walked to her home base alone, as Molly had just gotten to hers and Amy still had to walk through two buildings. By now she wished she could just shoot herself and be done with all the high drama.
All the girls were talking about him; the 'Grecian god,' the 'hottest guy, like, ever,' and honestly, it made her sick.
How insecure did someone have to get before they started obsessing over a guy who was most likely a complete jerk and only talked to girls with the chance that he might get in their pants. And from what she'd heard from Molly and several girls around school, he'd gotten into quite a few pairs of jeans.
As she walked into Home base, Amy thanked whatever deity, god, or goodness that was watching over her that she didn't need to worry about a guy like that.

As the bell rang Amy made her way to first period, which was fairly uneventful.
Except for Mark Turner.
He was a popular jock and socialite in their high school and he'd had his fair share of girls. Amy didn't like him. It had nothing to do with his popularity or his extra-curricular activities. It did, however, have everything to do with his obsession with Amy. Or, more accurately, his obsession with Amy's, ahem, lady parts. There had been rumors floating around for the last year or so about a bet he'd taken on that involved Amy, him, the backseat of his Camaro, and an absence of pants.
"Hey, babe, those jeans really do wonders for you." Mark flashed a bright smile and looked her up and down, his eyes trailing the length of her legs. Amy ignored him, but the group of girls surrounding Marks desk lifted their noses at Amy and sent her glares filled with hatred.
"Amy, Amy, Amy... Are we going to have a repeat of last year, or have you decided to lay down the act and go out with me this Friday night?" Mark asked her as he shook his sandy blond hair out of his eyes.
"We wouldn't have a repeat of last year if you kept your eyes to yourself and didn't bother me." she mumbled out as she sat down. Being mean, even to the likes of Mark Turner, wasn't like Amy, but enough was enough.
"Well, you know me, Parlor, and you know that's not going to happen. You might as well give up." She looked at him dead in the eye, straightened her shoulders, and spat out two words, "Not likely."

Jace's first period went by quickly. It was anatomy, his favorites subject, and he'd been engrossed on every word that came from Mr. Finiggans mouths. He almost didn't notice the hordes of girls that were sending him bedroom eyes and sly smiles. Mr. Finiggan just seemed pleased that no one had fallen asleep. When the first bell rang, as soon as Jace got up, everyone immediately followed him.
He walked with his friends to his next class, waving and smiling at ladies as he passed.
"Hey, Jace." A voiced purred behind him. He turned around and found himself face-to-face with Destiny Keene. She was that one ex-girlfriend that just didn't take no for an answer.
"Hey, Des." Jace sighed, running a hand through his hair. He'd been having a good day and now he had to put up with this. They'd dated (very briefly) in the 10th grade before he'd left and she had never stopped calling after he left. Even after he stopped returning her calls.
"So... Jace. I was thinking that if you're not doing anything tonight, you might come over? My parents are going to the Donoghue's charity ball and they won't be back till really late..." She trailed off at the end, the invitation lingering between them, waiting for his response.
"Sounds like a fun time, Des. Really fun, actually. But you know I'm a busy guy, always got something to do. Maybe some other time." There definitely won't be a 'some other time' Jace thought to himself as Destiny's cheeks turned red from his rejection. Even if she was human, even if she was vermin, she was still a girl. Even if he used and threw away girls like seasons, he never treated them like shit. No one deserved that.
As they continued down the hall, goofing off, Jace telling them stories about his time in Vegas , he spotted, through a door window, a girl. Medium height, chestnut hair, and brown eyes walking on the other side of the door alone. She was beautiful, in a way that didn't make sense. Pretty, yes, but beautiful? It was like a halo of silver surrounded her figure. She radiated warmth and kindness. His breath whooshed out of his lungs and he choked. It was physical, it was spiritual, and it was earth-shattering.
What the freaking hell was that, Jace thought to himself as she disappeared from his line of vision.
As Jarret opened the double-doors, there was a person in the way, and she fell… On her butt … An audible "oh!" Escaping past her lips. In front of the entire school.
Every one of the girls trailing after Jace and his friends burst out laughing as she scrambled to pick up her papers. And despite the wrench in his stomach, the feeling he'd experienced just seconds before, and his own brain screaming at him to help her, he joined into the roaring laughter that surrounded him. He watched as she quickly walked away from the crowd of laughing people.

Amy, red-faced, perspiring more than was normal, and completely humiliated, finally gathered all her paper's and rushed to second period.
Well, it's my first day of senior year and I'm the laughing stock of the entire school.
Thanks Jace Redfern…
Thanks guys!
Olivia
