Diamond Soul
You can't believe
The pain that we felt.
Fate had cheated
The hand that he dealt.
We tried to live.
We tried to go on.
The life we loved
Was suddenly gone.
Gone like embers
To the night sky.
One moment there's life;
The next it's goodbye.
We dreamed a dream
That banished the night.
She would come back;
It would be alright.
We were children
And so, in our eyes,
'Impossible'
Meant 'too scared to try.'
But we weren't scared,
Though we should have been,
Our dreams were shattered;
Hope lost once again.
'Truth hurts' they say.
I have to agree.
The tears un-cried
Could fill up the sea.
But hope returns
As it always does.
We'll find our way
You will see, because:
Heat and pressure
Can change even coal,
A fickle mind,
To a diamond soul.
We'll be the masters
Of our own fate.
