the Wrong One

It was the day everyone thought that would never come.

Oliver Queen was getting married. He never imagined he would unite his life with anyone but her. As he stood at the altar waiting for his bride to be, old memories flooded through his mind. Those lazy Sundays they spent in bed, the walks they would take around the city, the trips they took around the world, everything that had to do with her was in those memories.

At the thought of her, a small smile made its way to his face. She was everything he had hoped for.

The music started playing cutting his thoughts short in the process. He turned to his side and saw her with her smile and her blonde hair in that white dress walking towards him. He smiled at her when she reached him. Everyone was there; everything was perfect, it was the wedding everyone was waiting for.

They both turned towards the priest.

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in the bonds of holy matrimony."

As the words were said, he looked to his side and into her eyes, and it hurt.

It hurt because it wasn't her smile, or her green eyes, or her shade of blonde hair; it simply wasn't her. His heart sank at the thought; he wasn't going to marry her but her.

As much as he loved and cared for the woman next to him, he couldn't and would never forget her.

The priest's next words brought him out of his thoughts.

"Oliver Queen, do you take Dinah Lance to be your lawful wedded wife, to live in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love, honour, comfort, and cherish her from this day forward, forsaking all others, keeping only unto her for as long as you both shall live?"

He looked deep into her eyes and said with a heavy heart, "I do."

Dinah looked at him and tears ran down her face as she turned her body to face him completely. She gave him a sad smile as she spoke, "I can't do this. I thought that I could follow through and maybe along the road you would love me the way that I love you, but I realized that you will never love me like you do her."

"Dinah don't, I do love you. I-"

"I know you do, but it's not enough."

"Dinah-"

"It's ok, Ollie. I understand and that's why I can't marry you."

"I'm sorry."

"I know. She still loves you, you know?"

"I – uh," He sighed deeply then continued. "I can't."

"Don't let her go again. You two love each other and as much as it kills me to admit it, it's the truth. Look, if it's because of me then don't worry about it. I'll get over it, eventually. I love you Ollie, and I want you to be happy, so if that means I have to let you go so that you can be happy with someone else then I will."

Tears were running down her face and he wiped them away with his thumbs. He leaned forward, kissed her forehead and murmured, "You deserve better."

She tried lightening up the situation and said, "Obviously, billionaires aren't my type anyways."

They both shared small smiles.

"Good-bye Dinah."

"Bye, Ollie."

He turned and walked down the altar and he thought that maybe under different circumstances things would've worked out with Dinah.

As he walked out the church, he made up his mind.

He was going to look for her, and prove that she was always the one he ever really loved. He vowed to prove it till the end of time.

He would make it right and one day he would marry Chloe, the right one.

hope you enjoyed it. What did you think?
