Shadow of mine,
How do you define,
The passing of time and space,
My eternal companion who always goes by my pace,
Partner of my unseen dance,
Have you ever taken a chance,
Across the tight wire,
Of life, that burns brighter than any fire,
Are you bound to me or is it I that is bound to you,
Could you even leave me if you wanted to,
What threads bind us, my silent friend,
And when, if ever, do they end,
Do you dream while I'm asleep,
Is there a vow of silence you must keep,
Do you feel when I cry,
Will you simply fade away when I die,
Or are you immortal bound to a mortal,
Does my body serve as a portal,
If I am the key then where is the door,
You don't have to listen to me anymore,
I'm just rambling about nonsense,
At my own expense,
You pause then wait, is it for me,
Can you truly be bound to me freely,
Maybe I'm just imagining things,
As the clock strikes past twelve and rings.
