I was staring over the rail of the Argo II. We were traveling down a river. The trees on the banks were turning orange due to an early autumn, the sun making them close to a tangerine. The sunset also seemed to give the clouds and sky an orange glow. It looked a little like orange marmalade.
"Jason?" I turned to the sound of the voice. Piper was beautiful, no doubt about it. But tonight, she looked gorgeous She didn't even do anything different with herself either.
Her hair was still choppy with her signature braids framing her face. Her orange shirt had an oil stain on the shoulder. Either she was helping Leo fix something and it leaked, or Leo patted her shoulder for some reason. Her jeans were full of holes. And not holes put in by the designer. These were the natural, hard-earned kind, that came from fighting monsters and scraping your knees in the process.
Then there are her eyes. Gods, her eyes. They're a kaleidoscopic of colors. It's impossible to decide on what color they are. I see brown, green, and blue. The blue and green seem to stand out more in the setting sun.
She makes a motion gesturing for me to follow her. I glance up at the banks for a minute. The trees are large and look like giant flowers. There are large cherry blossom trees. Between the sun and the dying pink flowers, they look yellow. There are also giant weeping willow trees that haven't gotten the memo that it's fall. They still shine a brilliant green in the sunlight.
I turn back to find Piper and her brilliant eyes. I see her walking away and I quickly follow. We stop at the bridge of the ship. I can here fountains in the distance.
The entire crew is together, celebrating the end of the Giant War with some king of pie. Piper hands me a slice and I take a bite. Graham cracker crust, and marshmallow filling. I look around, and smile. Everyone is smiling too, even Percy, Annabeth, and Nico, all of which have managed to stay semi-sane after their stay in Hell.
Despite all the scars we've all gained during our journey, I wouldn't give it up for anything. A taxi could appear on the shore and offer to take me to a better life, my head would have to be in the clouds for me to take that offer. If I found myself on a train, I wouldn't even need to see this scene to get myself off before it leaves the station. All I'd need is to see Piper at the turnstile and I'd leave.
I would do anything for those kaleidoscope eyes.
So, this was a little weird, and it might not make sense. I might rewrite this in the future. But in the meantime, can I get some reviews?
