I don't own NCIS
The Letter
Jethro was sitting at his desk in the NCIS office, rummaging through his desk looking for something. He was particularly agitated today, and was lashing out at everyone; even Abby and Ducky were feeling his temper. When the mail came things didn't get much better. He had gotten a letter from what appeared to be from a lawyer's office. Once Jethro looked at the first page he bolted up the stairs to the director's office and bolted through the door, not listening to what Cynthia was saying.
"Were you ever going to tell me about it?" Jethro asked
"I was just waiting for the right time." Jenny replied.
"I don't ever think there was a right time Jen." Jethro retorted
"Well in that case, I guess if you hadn't of seen the letter, than you would have never known."Jenny said forcefully.
"Jen, I am your partner, you once had told me everything at the drop of a hat. What happened?" Jethro asked kindly.
"We are no longer partners Jethro; we have not been for some time. AND I am the director of NCIS; my health is not your concern." Jenny answered avoiding eye contact.
"Jen, Look at me." Jethro said getting in her way and putting his arms on her shoulders, "What happened to US, why couldn't you trust me with this?"
"A lot of things happened Jethro. We never got our relationship back to where it used to be. You were always busy with cases and I was always busy here with running a whole agency. Things just got out of hand. I wanted to tell you... I really did, but I could never bring myself tell you, because I didn't want you to worry about me." Jenny rambled
"Jen, I have always thought of you, I have always loved you. Why did you want me to have a copy of your will? Why did you put me as your beneficiary?" Jethro asked finally.
"Because you're all I have left, and I know that you would never leave me." Jenny answered defeated.
"Oh, Jen, I'm not ready to say goodbye to you to." Jethro whispered in her ear as he enclosed his arms around her waist.
