I've been waiting for a chance to write a Hetalia entry. Enjoy!
NOTE: This fic was meant to be sung to the tune of the song "Keine Liebe" by Eisbrecher.
Come on Feli, grow a spine!
Kasserine Pass, 1943. Gennaro Napolitano, a young twenty-five year old Italian Bersagliere who spent the last two years in North Africa, is sent to fight in Tunisia as part of German General Erwin Rommel's attack on British and American forces. He writes this (incredibly bad) poem to lament the alleged "cowardice" of the personification of his beloved Italia.
I got sent to Libya...straight from Napoli...
God knows I'd rather be at France or Germany.
White sun and yellow sand. A Carcano in both my hands.
The Allies are over there. Goddamn, they're everywhere!
Then I saw him there; Little Feli, crying like a...massive baby.
Come on, Feli! Grow a spine!
We need your help to hold the line!
Come on, Feli! Here's my rifle!
Now, please stop looking so damn pitiful.
Then Ludwig came in; in a Panzer IV.
His face was all like, "What the hell is all this for?!"
An Airacobra's strafing run; it left the work only half-done.
Feliciano survived, but Ludwig nearly died.
I saw him there; Little Feli...seething with rage, with an MP 40.
Come on! Feli grew a spine!
He's now helping to hold the line!
Andiamo, Italiani!
We got them on the run, Avanti!
The Italian Centauro Armored Division breaks through the American lines, impressing Rommel. Elsewhere, Ludwig was able to link up with the 10th Panzer Division, headed for Thala. Unfortunately for him, the 10th wasn't able to break through the British forces there under the command of Brigadier Cameron Nicholson.
This is a shock. The Allies are running.
I'd never thought that we would ever win!
We did win!
Viva il Regno d'Italia!
Come on, Feli grew a spine!
He helped our soldiers hold the line!
Andiamo, Italiani!
We had them on the run, avanti!
The Battle of Kasserine Pass lasted from February 19-25, 1943. Germany and Italy may have won that fight, but we all know they didn't win the war.
I admit I didn't really cover everything that happened in the battle. Please, if anyone knows more about this battle than I do, feel free to share them in the comments box. Also: Real Italians, I am sorry if I committed any grammatical mistakes here. Please point them out. Thank you and good day!
