Summary: He knows she doesn't buy it, and loves her all the more for pretending to.
XxX
She always makes the first move. He sits back and goes with the flow. At least, that's what he'd like her to think. He'd like her to think that he goes along just because he's a good guy. She knows better. Oh, he is a good guy – no doubt about it. One of the best. But he's not as laid back about it as he pretends. It's become something that he likes doing, something that he looks forward to just as much as she does. Something that he plans as part of his day now. Not that he'd ever admit it though.
She thinks it's cute, so she lets it ride.
He knows she doesn't buy it, and loves her all the more for pretending to.
Today she's toying with him. She wants to see if he'll cave. Wants to see if he'll take the initiative or wait for her. Part of her wants him to take charge, wants to relinquish control. But the other part wants to keep him just where he is – in the palm of her hand, waiting on her decision, working to her timeline.
She does like it when he takes control.
But then he likes it when she takes it back.
So. Stalemate.
She yawns and pretends indifference. He twiddles his thumbs and stares at the ceiling. She stretches. He clears his throat. She thinks she's almost got him.
And then he closes his eyes.
She sighs. He always was stubborn.
Her hand reaches down between them. She finds what she's looking for and pushes a button. He opens his eyes and pulls her into his side as the TV screen lights up and music floats into the bedroom.
"Here's the story, of a lovely lady. . ."
He kisses her forehead, and she knows that he's singing along in his head.
She snuggles in tighter, and he knows that she's singing along with him.
End.
