"C'mon, Bo, don't be such a scaredy- cat owl!"
Bolin crossed his arms and frowned in mock offense. "I'm not a scaredy- cat owl," he insisted, provoking a laugh from Korra.
"Then get in here already!" The young Avatar beckoned the earthbender towards her, but his feet remained rooted firmly in the warm sand. Waves lapped gently against the banks of the beach, leaving white specks of foam in their wake. Bolin swallowed nervously as he stared out at the ominous blue water. Okay, Bolin, you can do this. No big deal, it's just a little water. It's just like being thrown into the drink back at the arena. There's nothing to be afraid of.
He took a few tentative steps forwards. A small whimper escaped the young boy as a rush of water passed over his toes. Korra scoffed nearby. "Really, Bolin, it's not that scary."
"I know! I know! Just-just give me a minute, okay?"
Korra shook her head. He was getting in the water whether he liked it or not.
Slowly, and as quietly as possible, Korra crept out of the water and onto the sand. She tilted her head upwards briefly, making sure that Bolin's eyes were still shut tight in fear. A devious smirk played on her lips. Oh, he was not going to be happy with her after this. The Avatar quietly positioned herself directly behind the boy, her hands hovering just above his back. One, she took a deep breath. Two, this was going to be good. Three, here goes nothing.
A great and rather high pitched shriek came from Bolin as he went splashing into the water, thanks to the generous shove he'd received from Korra. She was doubled over in laughter, clutching her sides and gasping from the lack of air. Every time she thought she was finished with her cackling, the thrashing mess of limbs that was Bolin sent her into another hysterical fit of giggles. When she finally managed to catch her breath and Bolin had finally stopped his flailing, Korra waded back into the water. The cool sensation prickled her skin and sent a brief shiver up her spine.
She could feel Bolin glaring at her as she approached him. "There, it's not so bad, is it?" she managed between another oncoming fit of giggles. Bolin rolled his eyes playfully, wrapping a toned arm around her slender waist. "You're just lucky I love you so much," he told her as he lowered his lips onto hers.
Korra smirked. "I know."
