Yugi burst into the Pharaoh's soul room, glee shining in his face.
"PHARAOH! PHARAOH COME HERE!"
Instantly alert, the Pharaoh emerged from the recesses of his room, concern etched into his otherwise stoic features.
"What's troubling you little one?" Yugi shook his head, laughing, before grabbing the ancient spirit in a tight embrace. Yami blinked, slowly wrapping his hands around his partner.
"Yugi?" The tone was questioning and slightly concerned.
"It's a new year!"
The Pharaoh titled his head quizzically.
"A new year?"
Yugi nodded, eyes alight. He began to bounce up and down, the spirit still in his arms.
"Y-u-YUu-Yugi! Wh-wha-what is a ne-new ye-ear?" Yami struggled to ask as he was jolted by his overexcited partner.
The boy launched into the glories of New Years, the countdown, confetti, more terms that the Pharaoh could not understand as Yugi babbled on and on and on.
"BUT! The most important part is that it's a whole new start, a clean slate to work on. You make resolutions to do certain things that you might not have done the year before."
Yami blinked, red irises shimmering. "A new start?"
"Mmmmmmhmmmmm! And I am going to act on my first resolution, RIGHT NOW!" With that, he once again grabbed the Pharaoh and planted a firm kiss on the elder's lips. Yami's eyes flew open as the taste of watermelon burst in his mouth. Stiff at first, he began to relax and return the kiss with vigor.
They stayed that way for a while before breaking apart, both quite red in the face but smiling all the same.
"Happy New Year Pharaoh."
The Pharaoh chuckled.
"Happy New Year little one…"
