When my best friend came to take him away

One of my friends had a kid.
I'm really glad that he did,
But then he died.
And his life to my son was tied
And when my son at last held the resurrection stone
He was one of us that showed.
We all fell asleep at some point in time
And when my son's life was on the line
His life flashed before our eyes.
And we weren't at all surprised
When my son went to meet the man
Who would soon introduce him to Death.
But as it was that fateful night
My son wasn't meant to die,
Not yet,
For his fate was set.
He raised his wand and fought again
And all at once it was done.
So many of us died
At some point in time
In the name of all that was good,
We fought and we stood.
All of our lives flashed before our eyes
When the war was at last over.
My son grew,
He had kids who all knew
That lives had begun and met their end,
That life was something that only love could transcend,
And that life could grow from the dark,
And wars could be won with love
My son fell asleep one night
Long after the war after a long and happy life.
He saw his whole life flash before his eyes,
Just imagine his surprise
When he finally realized
We had never left his side.
