((Hold on to me, love You know I can't stay long))

"Don't die on me, Hiei," Kurama sobbed. "Don't leave me here..." Kurama held Hiei more tightly in his arms.
"Kurama, you know I'm going soon," Hiei whispered. Talking any louder was too much of a strain on him. "Just hold on, you'll get through..."
"No! I won't! Not without you, I won't get through!"

((All I wanted to say was I love you And I'm not afraid))

"I love you, Kurama, and I always will. Never forget that. Death doesn't frighten me; I'm not scared. I don't want you to be, either."
Kurama didn't respond.

((Can you hear me Can you feel me in your arms))

"Did you hear me, fox? Don't be scared." Kurama lowered his head onto Hiei's. Hiei's skin was getting colder by the second.
"Don't leave me here," Kurama repeated, more quietly this time.

((Holding my last breath Safe inside myself))

Hiei's breaths were slowing. He retreated into himself for minute or two, trying to think of a way to calm Kurama.

((Are all my thoughts of you Sweet raptured light It ends here tonight))

'Even at death's door, all I can think of is him,' Hiei thought to himself as an image of a smiling Kurama flooded his mind. His eyes were closed, so he was remembering the past.
"Kurama, I won't make it. It'll end here tonight, right here. I'm glad you're here with me."
Kurama gasped, more tears flowing down his cheeks. "No!"

((I'll miss the winter A world of fragile things))

"It'll be alright. I must say... I'll miss the winter. Everything is so clean and new. So fragile. Like human bodies."
"You're about to die and all you can think to say is that you'll 'miss the winter'?" Kurama choked out.

((I know you hear me I can taste it in your tears))

"Yes." Hiei reached up and wiped away some of Kurama's tears. "I love you. I know you hear me; you wouldn't be crying so much if you didn't. Never forget that, fox."

((Closing your eyes to disappear You pray your dreams will leave you here))

"Goodbye, fox. Ai shitteru," Hiei said with his last breath. Kurama closed his eyes tightly.
"Please, let me disappear from this. Let it be a dream. Let me wake up in my bed with only memories of a nightmare," Kurama begged to no one.

But still you wake and know the truth No one's there

Kurama forced himself to open his eyes. "It wasn't just a nightmare... No... Please, no, anything but this..."

((Say goodnight Don't be afraid))

"Good night, Kurama, I'll always be here," a voice whispered. It sounded like Hiei. Either Kurama had gone insane or Hiei's ghost had whispered to him. "Don't be frightened," it said.

((Calling me, calling me As you fade to black))

"Hiei! Hiei, come back! You have to come back! I know you can hear me! Come back... You can't just leave me all alone like this..." It was no good. Hiei was gone. "Dammit Hiei! What's wrong with you, you idiot?! This is all your own fault!" Kurama cried. "If you hadn't saved me you wouldn't have died! I can't believe you sometimes!" He laid Hiei on the ground. Lying next to him, Kurama whispered, "Good night, Hiei. I'll wake up soon. This will all be a dream, and we'll be okay. I promise."

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kitari: Wow, Fae. Either you were really out of touch with your writing skills or you never had talent in the first place. This sucks.

Fae: T.T I know. Don't remind me. I'll add another chapter, and then you'll all get to see if this all just a dream poor Kurama had or if it was real.

Kitari: You should make it real. That would be fun to watch you write.

Fae: Urusai. You don't help, so shut up. You're supposed be my muse and HELP me with stuff!

Kitari: Hah! Yeah right.
