After watch

I sit here after my watch in my cold lonely room. These winter months have been the worst I have ever seen. I can't seem to warm my room despite Pounce and the many candles I have lit. Every morning I see frozen bodies of poor mots and coves being carted away. These visions freeze my heart even more.

Every night I pass Rosto's doorway and every night he wishes me goodnight. How I wish he would just come up with me. Unfortunately, my ever-present cursed shyness prevents me from asking. We've shared a few kisses at times but he is always the one to start. I just don't know what to

Morning

I am sorry about leaving off my last entry but just as I was about to write the next word, my door flew open and Rosto came in with a blanket wrapped around him.

"Rosto, what—" I started but he cut me off by putting his hand on my mouth. He then took my journal, ink and pen and set them on my table.

"This is silly," he smiled crookedly. "We've been dancing around each other for months and I'm tired of dancing, Beka."

I looked into his eyes. I can't even remember what I saw in them but I think it was what I was looking for because I then whispered, "I'm cold Rosto."

The next thing I know is that I woke up this morning feeling comfortable and ever so warm. As I tried to roll out of bed, I found myself trapped in a pair of strong arms. My heart has warmed up again.
