When Fredrick Gideon Weasley was killed, a pain Molly Weasley never felt before coursed through her body. Losing someone so close to her was horrible, something she knew from experience (as she had lost her twin brothers in the first war). But what made it even worse for her was seeing the pain written across George's face. No twin brother should have to lose something so close to them.

Seeing George walk away from his twin brother's body, Molly wanted to make sure everything was all right, though she knew everything wasn't.

"Georgie," she said softly as she stood up from where she was sitting (next to Fred's body, of course) and followed her son.

"Mum, I'm fine. There's no need to worry," George replied angrily, not looking back at his mother. It was obvious to Molly that he didn't want to talk to anyone but she wasn't going to let him go so easily.

"George, wait!" Molly ordered as she softly grabbed George's upper arm, a fresh wave of tears rolling down her cheeks. Seeing George in the state that he was, she could tell that this was going to be hard, for the whole family. "Please?" she whispered.

"Mum, I'm serious. I'll be fine," George replied as he turned around and looked down at his mother. Seeing the tears roll down her cheeks, he suddenly felt bad for what he had said. "Sorry," he uttered as he wrapped his arms around his mother's shoulders.

Standing on her tippy toes, Molly placed her head against George's shoulder, letting her tears flow openly. At that point, she didn't really care if people saw her crying. She just lost a bloody son. She had every damn right to cry.

"I love you, Georgie and I know this is going to be hard for you. It's going hard for me too," Molly finally said after a few minutes of standing there with George's arms wrapped around her.

"Why Fred, Mum? Why Fred?" George asked as he looked down at his mother, whose head was still placed on his shoulder.

"I dunno, darling, I was thinking the same thing," Molly choked, trying to hold back another wave of tears.

"It's going to be the hardest for us, isn't it?" George asked as he rested his head on top of Molly's.

"I think so," Molly replied. "You two were in my womb together for nine months, how can it not?" she added as she tried her best to laugh. Instead of coming out as a laugh, though, it came out more as a snort.

Forcing a laugh, George lifted his head off of Molly's and kissed her forehead softly.

"I love you, mum," he said as he tightened his grip around Molly, giving her a reassuring hug.

"I love you too, Georgie," Molly replied as she smiled up at her son. "And remember, he died for something. Something close to all of our hearts," she added.

Even though it would take George a while to believe what his mother had said, he would soon come to realize that it is a blessing to die for a cause, because you can so easily die for nothing.
