A Call of Fate 19

Your eyes opened slowly as they adjusted to the darkness of the hut you were in. You felt a warm hand grasping yours as you lie down on a very comfortable bed. You didn't even feel your injuries as the person's fingers began tracing yours, capturing your attention and making you wonder who it was.

"Please be okay.." You heard a faint voice whisper by your bedside multiple times.

You tried craning your neck to get a better look, but thought better of it as a sharp pain shot up your spine. An arm wrapped lightly around your waist as you lie down, defenseless. You sighed, not sure what to make of the situation, and your injuries becoming more prominent by the second. This seemed to wake up the person from the trance they were having, and it wasn't until they spoke that you felt your face flush slightly, from happiness.. And what else?

"[Y/N].. Are you awake?" Link's raspy voice asked hopefully. You felt him come to a rest on his knees as he stayed by your side.

You looked over at him as best as you could and gave him a slight smile, "I'm.. Alright."

You swear you could see him smiling in the dark, his blue eyes lighting up the hut. He wrapped his arms around you once again and hugged you lightly before coming to a rest in that same position.

"I'm sorry.." he murmured, "For everything."

"I'm sorry for not protecting the village the way I was supposed to." You breathed, regretting everything that has happened.

"It's not your job, it's mine." He replied sadly. You felt his grip around you tense for a second. "I'm sorry I let this happen to the village, to you."

"It's fine.. Thank you for saving us." You said, meaning every word of it. He adjusted himself and sat on the floor, his hand back in yours as he leaned up against the bed. He didn't respond, you could tell he was tired, and honestly, so were you. Mustering up all the strength and courage you had, you sat up, much to his surprise, and landed a sweet kiss on his cheek just as he turned around. His face was priceless and you couldn't help but giggle. It was the same face he would make when you were kids and you would do something crazy like hang from trees or jump into waterfalls. You couldn't believe how astounded he looked, was it really that much of a surprise? You decided not to question it as you plopped back down, causing a bit of pain, and attempted to fall asleep.

The next morning he was there, holding your hand and ready to return the kiss. The same way he would in the many years to come.
