Chidori's Confession.

Yuhi walked walked, carrying Chidori's light, blood stained body on his back. She wimpered in pain.
"Yuhi. P-put me down." He stopped, his eyes wide.
"But if we don't hurry, you'll die!" She smiled.
"Please Yuhi? I'm beyond help now." He shook his head, his blood boiling.
"NO!" He fell to his knees. He sat back and lay her across his lap. He had known all along that her wounds were fatal and that the chances of her surviving were next to nothing; but still he had hoped.
"Oh, Yuhi." She whispered, reaching her hand up and gently caressing his face.
"Chidori, please don't give up on me now! I can save you..."
"Shhhh." she soothed. He looked at her and she smiled, weakly. It was a smile of happiness. No pain, no regret, just happiness.
"Yuhi, I have something that I've wanted to tell you for a long time. I love you." He stared at her, surprised. It was then that he realized, he loved her more than anything. He pulled her tightly against him.
"I-i-i love you too, Chidori." She smiled, tears forming in her eyes. He placed a hand at the back of her head, and tipped it up, placing his lips against hers. It was a short, sweet kiss. He looked into her eyes. She looked so happy, so peacefull. He remembered all their times together; from the first time they met, until now. He had never expected to hold that young girl in his arms, nor did he expect that he would love her so much. He squeezed his eyes shut.
" Yuhi? What's the matter?"
"Nothing I-i...Why do you have to die? Why now?" The tears were threatining to spill out. She smiled.
"Yuhi, it's all right." He opened his eyes again.
"NO! It's not alright! I want to be with you."
"Yuhi, I need you to keep on living, keep on smiling. Aya needs your help, and Suzumi, she's done so much for you, what kind of thanks would it be for you to die, unhappy? One day we'll be reunited again, I promise." He smiled and gently tangled his fingers in her soft hair. Slowly her eyes closed, causing Yuhi to panic.
"Chidori? Chidori!" She shifted her hand slightly.
"I'll be waiting, Yuhi my love." He was crying now, gently shaking her shoulders and shouting her name frantically, but it was of no use. 'You're right, Chidori,' he thought hoding her body tightly against his, 'One day we'll be together, but for now I'm needed here, just as you said.' He placed a kiss on top of her head.
"Sleep well, my Chidori."
