The wound had finally scabbed over, a thick crust covering the deep gash at Sam's temple now; and he was sleeping at last.
"Never seen anything like this," Bobby admitted back in the kitchen. "Never read about it, either."
"Not enough books?" John mocked, pulling a chair up and sitting down but there was no heat behind it.
Bobby threw him a weird look and the weary father shrugged helplessly.
"I'm just tired..."
"Nothing to apologize for. That was much too close for my liking."
"Never thought I'd be glad for Dean to be too sick to worry about Sam."
