Taking the Reins

inspired me to keep writing

Prologue

My name is Sam and I am a demigod. I know what you're thinking; this is just another thing where people are trying to find their parents. I'm not trying to find my mom, in fact I wanted nothing to do with her till the Godlings formed. You heard me right the Godlings a group of 12 demigods each with a different parent of Olympus each with a different power. Little did I know that I was the special one of the group. I never asked to be the special one, it sort of just happened when my mother told me. Oh and if you haven't guessed by now my mom is a Goddess, not just any Goddess, my mom was Aphrodite.

Chapter 1: Figuring out my life

My dad lay sprawled across the couch, snoring. He had fallen asleep yet again and the T.V. was on. The news woman was shouting loudly about the traffic and I pushed the remote button to turn it off. I brought the blanket up to my dad's neck and tucked it around him tightly as I kissed his forehead.

"Bye daddy." I smiled as I left him on the couch. It had always been this way, just me and my dad. I never knew my mom, and my dad told me she left us when I was only two years old. I had always wondered what she looked like and as my dad recalled it he said she was the most beautiful creature he had ever laid his eyes on. He always told me I looked a lot like her, and for some reason her beat himself up on that. I loved my dad so much and I was glad he was taking care of me but sometimes I wondered what it would be like to even have a mom. I didn't want one anyway, seeing as she was the one who walked out on us.

As I walked out our tall apartment building I closed the door behind me tightly and swung my backpack so it was fully on my back. Today was a new day, the first day of a new school, high school. It was going to be amazing. I was so excited as I walked towards the school I popped in my ear phones and tuned up my tunes listening to one of my favourite bands, the Aphrodites. They were a band of boys that basically sang like woman but had an awesome sound. As the school neared I could feel the pace of my heart quicken and my breath start to quiver slightly. What was I to do? My first day with new people and new faces.

I opened the front of the school door and walked in. Have you ever see in the movies those slow motion parts where everyone is watching you as your hair gets blown back and that certain song in playing? Well that was exactly what it was like walking through those very doors. My hair flew back as the wind picked up and all the jaws dropped. I'm not going to lie I wasn't perfect but this was the reaction I had gotten since kindergarten and half the time the reasons we had to move, because I was hurt by some idiot boy.
