Instinct

A/N: Alright again, I don't really like the title and I'm horrible at them. But anyway, thanks for the request WMHSCheerioBrittany. This is an introduction one-shot for the 100 themes challenge. Enjoy.

Pairing: James/Mercedes

Theme: Introduction

James Diamond walked into Rocque Records fifteen minutes earlier than he was supposed to arrive. Instinct had told him something good was going to happen.

He started singing what he thought was quietly to himself as he walked down the halls. It always surprised people that the face of Big Time Rush never really had a girlfriend, but hey? No one was ever really right for him.

"Any kind, any kind, any kind of guy you want. You decide, change your mind, I will be there. Won't you try, one more try, be my any kind of girl? You decide, it's alright, I will be there," James sang as he neared the dance studio.

As he began the second verse, he became aware of a female voice singing along with him and picked up his pace. He peeked into the studio and saw a golden blond haired girl singing softly and dancing a routine.

James quietly opened the door and leaned against the frame to watch until she was done, still singing with her.

The girl did not notice James as she did her final spin and jump as the two sang,

"I will be there."

James made up his mind and quietly started to applaud. The girl whirled in his direction, obviously startled.

"Hi," James held up his hands defensively as he walked into the room. "I'm James," he said, sticking out his hand when he reached her. She smiled shyly before shaking it.

"I'm Mercedes Griffin," the girl said. "You're from Big Time Rush. My daddy is glad you guys won the demo-picking thing," Mercedes added.

"You have a great voice," James told her.

"Not really," Mercedes protested as she blushed at the compliment, her blue eyes sparkling. James thought she looked so pretty.

"Yes, you do. You just need some exercises to tune it. Come on," James said as he sat at the piano. The two spent the next ten minutes until the other guys came working on exercises and neither Mercedes nor James had been this happy in along time and were glad they had finally met.

A/N: So, hope you liked it. Please review.
