Souvenir

I ran, pushing through all the people at the airport.

I called out her name as loud as I could.

Where… Are you..?

Then I saw her. She was boarding the plane.

"MAKA! MAKA!"

She looked over her shoulder as they were beginning to close the gate.

My heart was beating furiously in my chest. I grasped the ring in one hand. The ring that she returned.

"Maka…"

She looked at me with her swollen red eyes. I could see a faint smile on her sad face.

"Maka..! Don't go!"

"It's too late, you'll never understand…"

Was the last thing she said to me.

I stared with disbelief as she left.

Did you really want to be anywhere far away from me? You left empty handed, no suitcase packed but you just left like that, why so indefinitely?

If I just had one more chance, I'll show you I'm different but now…

I guess it's just too late to see.

You're getting farther from me and I was the one to blame aren't I?

Funny how the sky seems so grey, is it because you're taking off?

You've left me behind, here on the ground and making me watch you take a part of me with you.

I chuckled to myself staring out the big glass windows.

"This should've been a goddamn trip for two…"

I'm at the airport, with nothing but my passport since you've left me standing here…

And you just had to take my heart as well.

The plane departed, flying away.

Give me a month and you'll be out of my head… Won't you?

Why am I feeling so… Empty..?

All these mixed emotions… Maybe I just can't live without you.

But if you never come back to me…

"Just keep my heart as a souvenir then…"

Four years later…

"Today was the day…"

Black Star looked at me. Then he turned to the calendar. "The day she left huh?"

I nodded. "Hah. How could she leave someone as cool as me?"

Black Star punched me on the arm. "C'mon man! You're bound to get lucky so don't sweat!"

"I know." I said grinning. "How are you with transcending God?"

His nostrils flared up as a big grin spread on his face. "I'M TAKING MY TIME TRANSCENDING GOD!"

"As if dude!"

"I'm serious!"

"Whatever! Better get back to Tsubaki."

"You're right! See ya around Soul."

"See ya."

I closed the door and sighed.

She could've at least told me why she left.

"That idiot…"

I walked on the sand, the waves splashing against my feet.

She loved the beach. Always did.

Then I saw someone up ahead.

I sighed. I am going crazy.

Maka turned and stared at me. "S-Soul…"

"Very funny."

She made a face. "What?"

"My hallucinations usually don't talk."

"Eh?"

I went up and pinched her cheeks. "Funnier. You feel real."

"I am re –"

"I refuse to believe you're real. You're another of my hallucinations."

"Soul, you ass! I'm not a hallucina –"

"Yeah you are!"

"No I'm not!"

"As if –"

"MAKA – CHOP!"

"OWW!"

I gripped my head. "YOU ARE REAL!"

"About time!"

I looked at her in the eyes. "…Why did you go?"

She looked away.

I grabbed her wrist. "Tell me Maka!"

"B-Because… I had to choose… To stay here and act like you don't exist or… Go study abroad for four years…"

I stared at her. "Maka I –"

"I was hurting, Soul! I didn't want to leave! But…" She looked at me. "I… Really did like you…"

I managed to smile at her. "Stuuuupid." I pulled her down. "I was waiting."

"W-What?"

I kissed her. "I want my heart back, Maka Albarn!"

anyways, nothing like this ever happens to me... i think is probably set when Soul and Maka are older... I dont like thinking about when they're older but I still write songfics that way... weird O.O
