Author: Tia (edited by Adriana)
Summary: This is going be a short story of only about a couple of chapters.
Dawn's Sweet 16 and a party where anything can happen!
Disclaimer: None of it's mine. All Joss' and Mutant Enemy!
It was almost five and everyone would be coming in an hour. Not much time was left to finish setting up. It was Dawn's sweet sixteen, but since money was so tight she was just going to have a small party at the Summer's residence. She had invited Janice and a couple other kids from school, as well as the Scoobies and Spike. Buffy and Willow were in the kitchen setting up the snacks. They had all the food varieties from chocolates to chips, they even got some wheatabix for Spike. While Buffy set the cake in the fridge, Willow finished arranging the snacks onto the trays and took them out to the living room.
Dawn was upstairs looking for the perfect outfit. Kevin, also known as her big time crush, would be coming and she had to look great. She had decided on her faded blue jean mini skirt with her black knee high boots, but she still couldn't find a shirt. Then it came to her. The perfect shirt that would go with her outfit, Buffy's new black halter that had the small studded heart on the top left.
"Perfect, Dawn you are a genius! Kevin wont be able to resist you!"
She quickly ran to her sister's room and grabbed the shirt out of the drawer. She quickly ran back into her room and finished getting ready. She grabbed a black hair tie and put her hair up in a high ponytail with two wavy strands coming down by her temples. As she walked down the stairs she put on her new silver earrings that her buddy Zoe gave her. (Zoe couldn't come so she had given Dawn her gift the day before at school.) The earrings were really cute, they were crescent moons with star symbols.
She met Willow at the bottom of the stairs.
"Hey Dawny, Buffy's in the kitchen and everyone should be getting here soon, so I'm gonna go get ready."
While Willow went up Dawn headed to the kitchen to see her sister.
"So how's the planning going?"
Buffy was exhausted, she had been working all morning to set up.
"You know that I wouldn't mind a little help."
"But you're doing so good on your own, I wouldn't wanna mess that up. Anyways, I'm gonna go get some music on. Be back in a sec."
Dawn left the room and Buffy took a chance to rest. The late night patrols were getting to her. She definitely needed some R-n-R.
Back in the living room, Dawn carefully took out her favorite mix CD and placed it in the stereo. She hit the "CD" tab and raised the volume. Seconds later an Alannis Morssette song came on, definitely one of Dawns favorites. She went to the table and picked up a couple of chips. Just as she was going to turn around she felt something being placed on her shoulders. It took her a second, but she quickly realized what it was and who put it there.
"Oh my God, Spike! I can't believe you got it."
The sun had set early and Spike had decided to head out for the party. He had snuck in to surprise Dawn with her gift. He remembered a couple of weeks ago seeing Dawn admire the leather coat from outside the mall's window. He used the money that he got from the pet shop for selling them some profitable kitties.
Dawn grabbed the jacket and quickly ran to show it to her sister. When he saw the coast was clear, Spike went back to the door and grabbed the box he had brought with him. He went to a corner and hid it behind one of the sofas. He stood up, dusted himself off and as Buffy walked in she saw his mischievous grin.
"What are you up to?"
