Amy couldn't sleep.
She tried. Bloody hell, she tried, but she never seemed to be able too. Whenever she drifted off dreams would cloud her mind. Dreams of a man, a strange man in a nurse uniform and a long nose. She couldn't get it out of her mind during the day. Sometimes she would find herself crying, and then the doctor would be by her side, hugging her and stroking her hair and asking if she was ok. She would always make up an excuse such as 'yeah I'm just tired' or 'yeah it's just an emotional time of the month for me' she never told him about the man because she didn't want to be classed as an idiot.
Fed up of lying awake for hours, Amy slipped out of her bedroom and padded across the winding corridors until she found the main control room.
'Hello Pond' said the Doctor, not looking up from his current position (which was beneath the console, lying on a skateboard with a spanner in his hand)
'Hi' said Amy, sitting down and hugging her knees to her chest, in a hope to stop the shiver (that wasn't just from the temperature) passing through her body.
The doctor slid out from under the control panel and sat down next to his companion. 'Hey, what's wrong' he said gently. Realising the damp tears that had appeared on Amy's freckled cheeks.
'Nothing' said Amy, feeling her cheeks. She sighed. It was now or never.
'Doctor have we ever met a man, a man in a nurse uniform?' she asked.
'Rory' the doctor whispered absentmindedly.
'What' said Amy.
'Nothing' said the doctor quickly trying to cover his mistake.
'You said Rory' Amy thought for a second, putting two and two together 'that man in the dream is called Rory' she gasped and fell backwards in shock. 'I remember everything'
She collapsed in tears, memories filling her mind and giving her a headache. 'Doctor why didn't you make me remember? How could I forget Rory?'
The doctor put his arm round her, hugging her tight, kissing her forehead, stroking her hair. But nothing could dim the sadness that was soaring through her like a cold drink on a hot day.
The Doctor just held her while she cried and cried and cried.
