She was trying to process what had just happened. Jughead Jones, the man she loved but never showed, kissed her. She had loved him since they were little. Everyone thought she liked Archie because that's the stereotype for "girl-next-door" types like her. She let everyone think that because she didn't mind that no one knew her real love. She could be at peace with that one secret she has kept inside since she could remember.
She was replaying what had happened. He came to his ladder by her window and knocked. Just thinking of the smile she had received from him once the window was opened made her heart flutter with endless butterflies. When she opened the window his smirk spoke before he could.
"Hey, Juliet. Nurse off duty?" he said. His reference made her giggle. He walked in and sat on the nook by the window. The bad boy in her house. She would've never guessed that would happen. She was caught in her thoughts when he spoke.
" I need to tell you something." It sounded serious.
" Spit it out Juggie. I've known you for forever. Wait. Don't say anything before I tell you something first, i've kept it for awhile and you need to know. It might change what you say. " She was actually going to tell him. She took a breath.
" Jughead Jones, I am hopelessly in love with you. I've been in love with you since the second grade. You probably don't like me that way or anything because of my weird awkwardness and my obvious obsessive talking when i'm nervous, as you can clearly tell. I know you probably don't think of me that way but ever since we met I've fallen hopelessly in lo-"
She was stopped by the lips of Jughead Jones on hers.
" Betty I don't think you're understanding here. I'M in love with YOU. No one else. I love the way you talk when you're nervous and your quote-on-quote "weird awkwardness". I love it all Betty Cooper."
She was left completely speechless. He winked at her slyly and made his way to the ladder he had come from.
"Just think about me for awhile and process."
That she did, but she was not thinking of him entirely, just his lips on hers, more specifically.
