I've never been to an amusement park. I can't stop myself from looking around at everything. There's so much stuff to do here. We walk towards nowhere in particular, just exploring and people-watching.
Alice is walking next to me, talking a mile a minute as usual. When she stops, I'm confused, only to find that she's looking with adoring eyes at a tall blond boy.
"Alice?"
She seems irritated at Edward for interrupting her trance.
"What?" She's giving him the stink eye. I don't know why he isn't scared.
"You should go talk to him."
She raises her eyebrows. She probably thinks he's joking. It's certainly possible, given how protective he is.
He just smiles innocently. "Go."
She squeals quietly, and runs over to the blond boy.
I'm happy for her. Then I see where we've ended up.
Oh, dear.
Edward sees my expression. "Come on. You have to ride at least one while we're here." He gives me his I'm-so-cocky grin. I try not to pass out.
We get in line. I have a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach.
"Hold my hand?" I sound pathetic.
He gives me what I think of as his just-for-Bella smile. "Of course." He's so sweet.
I smile back weakly. He kisses me. It's too brief for my taste, and after two seconds, he's just holding my hand again.
He's excited. I'm not surprised. I knew he loved roller coasters when I suggested this excursion. I'm just nervous.
We get belted into our seats. I wrap my hand around his and hold on tight.
We start going up. I'm really glad I haven't eaten anything since breakfast.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
I'm not sure if that's me.
Afterwards, Edward waits while I run to the bathroom. When I come out, he's talking to a girl I don't recognize. She's blonde and very pretty.
"I've actually been here before, so I don't need you to show me around, but thank you for offering." He's such a gentleman. I walk over to him and take his hand.
The girl looks at me, frowns, and walks away.
We walk around some more until it starts raining. We're used to rain though, so we just find a place to sit under an awning.
He keeps trying to make conversation, but it doesn't work. I'm thinking.
"All right, what's wrong?"
I try to play dumb. "What do you mean?"
"Why are you upset? Did I do something?" Oh God, he thinks it's his fault. He always assumes the worst.
"Nothing."
I can tell he doesn't believe me.
"It's just…sometimes I think I'm not enough for you."
"What on Earth are you talking about?"
"Look at me. I'm nothing special. People ignore me. Now look at you. You're smart, talented, not to mention gorgeous. That girl was practically salivating over you, and when she saw me, she was confused, because she couldn't figure out why we were together."
He hasn't said anything. I take a deep breath.
"I-I worry sometimes that you'll wake up and wonder why you're with me."
He doesn't say anything, just looks at me with an expression I can't quite figure out.
He takes my hand and places it on his chest. I can feel his heart beat under my fingers.
"Do you feel that?"
"Yes."
"It belongs to you. It's always belonged to you."
"I know."
He puts his arm around me. I wrap my arms around his waist and relax against him. We sit and wait for the rain to stop.
