A/N: This is for the Suicide Challenge on HPFC. The underlined lines are prompts for the challenge. I cried a little while writing this. I don't think this is near my best work, but I have another one on the way for Dumbly and Grindlewald.
It was just after the Final Battle and the survivors were crowded in the Great Hall. Most were mourning, but a few were standing around looking dazed. No one had gotten away unscathed; if not emotionally, than physically.
Ginny Weasley had said her good-byes to Fred and Harry and then had left the Great Hall for some fresh air. She was so absorbed in her memories that she didn't see Tonks until she had plowed into her.
"Sorry, I didn't watch where I was going," Ginny said as she helped Tonks off the ground.
"It's okay, I wasn't watching either." Tonks said as she turned towards the lake.
"Tonks? Would you like to take a walk around the lake with me? I just want company, I don't want to talk, it's too painful." Ginny asked hesitantly.
"Okay," Tonks said as she set off around the lake. They didn't say anything until they were at the back end of the lake, away from the school.
"Ginny?" Tonks questioned as her voice wavered.
"Yes, Tonks?" Ginny asked.
"I didn't come here to just walk, I had another purpose…" Tonks said, trailing off.
"I understand. I came for the same reason." Ginny said darkly.
"It's just… What do I have to live for? What is left for me now?" Tonks asked hopelessly as she thought of Remus.
"He left me with nothing. I am nothing, now. Harry left me." Ginny said, despair leaking into her voice.
"We can do it together. We can jump in and never come up; they would think we had fallen." Tonks said as she planned on how to end it.
"I don't want to feel anything. I have a potion to knock us out." Ginny said as she looked through her pockets and pulled out two vials of a knockout draught.
"Let's jump in and take it." Tonks said as she jumped into the icy water. Ginny followed her and gave her a vial. Both of them swallowed the contents of their vials before the sunk into lake, never to surface alive.
---
When the survivors realized they hadn't seen Ginny or Tonks for the longest time, they searched and searched until they found them floating face down in the water, their hands locked around the others. No one suspected they had killed themselves and they were buried with the other heroes of the war.
