Trickery

"Rin, let's play a game," Len requested, barging into her room without permission and she and Rui watched television.

"No thank you," Rin replied without so much as a glance in his direction.

Len continued as though his sister hadn't spoken. "I'm going to need to borrow your girlfriend."

"No thank you," Rui responded, curling closer to Rin on the couch as she did.

"Thank you very much for your cooperation," the boy said appreciatively, climbing onto the couch beside them. The girls glared at him before exchanging a glance and getting off the couch to huddle on the armchair.

"I'll only borrow her for a second," he insisted, pouting a little now. It was sort of pathetic and earned a small dose of pity from Rui. "I promise."

"I'm not loaning you my girlfriend," Rin retorted, keeping her eyes locked to the television. Rui gave Rin a small shake of her head to remind her not to engage Len. They'd never get rid of him that way. He'd be here all night.

"It's only for a second," Len argued, still sitting alone of the couch.

"No," Rui told him.

"I'll leave you two alone afterward," Len bribed.

That got their attention. The girls exchanged glances, tempted by his offer. Then, after a brief moment of contemplation, Rui got to her feet while Rin continued to watch television.

"Okay, what is it?" Rui sighed.

"Rei absolutely adores you, correct?" Len wondered.

He didn't miss the glimmer shining off a knife that appeared in Rui's hand. "Yes."

He raised his hands in surrender and said, "Okay, you can put that away, Rui. I'm not going to do anything horrible to your brother."

Rui shrugged, and the knife vanished. "Safety measures."

"I wouldn't put that away just yet, honey," Rin advised. "Len's obviously got some crazy plan up his sleeve."

"Not at all," Len said with a smile that said that there was no way that was true. "I was just thinking that it would be nice if my boyfriend would come hang out with us once in a while."

"I don't wanna go get him," Rui whined, pouting as she glanced back at her girlfriend.

"With my plan, you don't have to," the blonde boy informed her.

"Told you there was a plan," Rin, still staring at the television, informed Rui.

"You sound like a corny infomercial guy," Rui told him, shifting her weigh between her feet uncomfortably. "Can I sit down now?"

"One moment please," requested Len.

And he kissed her.

Silence filled the room, and Len felt a fist two fists hit him simultaneously in the face, knocking him backward as they grabbed Rui and pulled her far away from him. "Don't touch my Rui!"

"Don't steal my catchphrase!" Rei shouted at Rin.

"She's hardly your Rui!" Rin said haughtily, tugging her girlfriend away from the boy's grip and shoving him toward her brother. "Go be with your boyfriend."

"I was doing work," Rei said to Len as he helped the boy to his feet.

"I missed you," Len said with a shrug.

Rei chuckled. "You're hopeless."

The blonde grinned and led his boyfriend onto the couch. "You love me."

The other boy rolled his eyes with a smile and sat next to Len. "I do."

"Shush, we're watching this," Rin snapped from where she and Rui had returned to the armchair.
