A mistake out of the Blue

Summary: just a short one-shot. After stopping another crime spree, Metro Man accidently killed a man.

Blood stained the ground at his feet. All he could do was to stare down at the limp body in shock and horror. Everyone knew it was an accident but still this was never supposed to have happened. He cannot afford to make this kind of mistake. Metro Man finally did it. He did what not even Megamind ever would have done.

He had killed a man.

Guilt filled his entire being. He was not a murderer. He could not go and kill someone, and yet he just did. Never in his life had Metro Man felt so low. He had killed a person, committed a murder. Heck, not even Megamind had done this kind of thing before. The man that lay at his feet looked young, no older than 20 years. He was a diamond smuggler and got away with many thefts until today. Metro man sank down beside the dead body and slid his hand over the man's face, closing the unseeing eyes. Looking down at the dead shape in front of him, he let out a sorrowful sigh and a single tear ran down his face. Tomorrow this would be in the newspaper, no doubt. The press would probably try to find some way to cover up for him because he was the city hero.

Metro man did not want someone to stand up for him this time. He wanted to deal with this on his own. Hopefully it would not be bad enough for him to end up in jail, but it certainly would give the citizens of Metro City something to talk about, or should he say, gossip about. Metro Man knew that Roxanne would forgive him. Metro City would also forgive him. Besides, he was their hero, and the guy he killed was the bad guy. A criminal. Things would go back to the way it was if he can get over it and put this incident behind him. He hoped. Picking up the body Metro Man carried it off so it could be prepared for burial.
