I arrived in time to see some of the guys lighting piles of various vampire appendages, the black smoke rising up through the treetops. I saw Embry with Seth leaning on him. As I approached I saw Seth had a bite mark on his shoulder. I ran to him, horrified, "Seth!"

"What happened? I questioned Embry.

"He was herded, separated from the rest of the pack and they ambushed him. He was able to fight them off at first but the female, she bit him before we could get here."

I knew that the venom was pumping through his veins, poisoning him, killing him and there was nothing I could do to stop it.

"Lay down, Seth. Rest." I insisted as I helped him lay down.

"Leah?." Seth said weakly. "Where are you?" Seth's eyes were open and darting around, yet, he saw nothing.

I looked up at my other brothers, horror-struck; tears running down my face.

"I'm right here Seth" I managed. "I'm holding you."

"Leah, I'm scared."

"Shhh, don't be scared, I'm here now. You're safe." I whispered in his ear as I stroked his hair.

"Leah, I can't see you."

"What do you see?"

"I see an ocean, a beautiful ocean. There are ships on the horizon. And I see – " he paused, "I see Dad standing on the shore. I think he wants me to go to him."

Sobs escaped me but I gained control of myself for Seth's sake.

"Seth, Dad is here for you, go with him. The ships are going to take you home."

"What about you and Mom?" he struggled to speak now

"Seth, its okay, we'll be okay." I kissed his forehead, "We will see each other again, I promise."

"I love you Leah."

"I love you too."

Moments later, Seth took his last breath and then he was gone. I held his body and wept as 3 mournful howls tore through the darkness.
