Clash of Destiny

"And history repeats," Rose walked up. "Every 108 years the Moon that never Sets glows a blood color. At that time, the Moon Child descends to the earth. The Black Monster then comes to kill the Moon Child."

"And now Shana is the Moon Child," Dart said. "Does that mean that she must die as well?"

"Do you really think that I want that?" Rose demanded. "I don't want Shana dead! We traveled together, we're friends, but now I have no choice in the matter. It's either her or this world. Would you let everyone suffer?"

"How many people does it take to make something wrong?" Dart asked. "One, one hundred, one million? No, wrong is still wrong! What your doing is murder! Nothing can justify that!"

"Then don't blame me!" Rose yelled. "I didn't want it to go this far! Blame fate or Soa for all the good that will do! I'm nothing but the messenger of this all. It was predestined that she would be the Moon Child!"

"Was it also prophesized that I fight you?" Dart raised his sword. "That I must fight you to save Shana?"

"The only way to save Shana is to defeat me!" Rose pointed her rapier at him. "I'll fight the Moon Child until the day I die! Otherwise, what was the point of everything? Why did we have to suffer through the Dragon Campaign and the rebellion when everything would be destroyed?"

"If that's the way Soa for saw it then I can do nothing but fight," Dart glared at her. "I journeyed thus far with Rose; I fight now with the Black Monster."

Then, the battle began. Dart charged forward first and the two blades clashed. "You destroyed my village," he snarled. "You've taken the lives of dozen of innocent children. Now you want to murder my friend. Will nothing satisfy your hunger for killing?"

The weapons slammed together again and again. Dart's sword came up once after cutting Rose's cheek. It came up red. "You don't understand anything," she smirked. "Your willing to sacrifice everyone on the face of the planet, and why? For one girl? I don't like what I do, but I know I have no choice in the matter. It has already been decided by destiny, and you call me a monster? Look at yourself; you are willing to kill thousands of innocents! You yourself will be signing each of their death warents! That would make you no better then me!"

"I don't claim to be the most rightouse person on this planet," Dart looked up. "Nor am I, but I do claim to be the Dragoon of the Red Dragon. Given my powers by the same destiny, the same unmade choices. Given those powers to use them as I see fit!"

"Couldn't have said it better myself," Rose smiled as she became a Dragoon. "Now, let's let fate decide where this will take us."

The fight was over. Dart was the victor of the two and stood straight, his weapon at the other's neck. "Go ahead," Rose looked down the blade. "I don't care about what you do now."

"You destroyed my village," Dart snarled. "Killed my friends, murdered my family; I should kill you now for what you've done."

"Then go ahead," there was no emotion on her face; none to betray her monotone voice. "I don't care. If

Zieg wins then we're all dead. It doesn't matter to me if I die now or when the end comes."

"But," Dart lowered his sword. "You were also willing to help me with Feyrbrand. You've traveled and fought with us for a long time."

"Is it out of pity?" Rose asked. "Pity that after over 11,000 years I should die here? Pity that I was only doing my job?"

"No," Dart responded. "It's because your right. Zieg is going to destroy the world. Zieg is going to destroy everything; Shana, the world, everything. We have to stop Zieg if I want a chance to save her."

Dart started to turn and walk back to the city. "You know," Rose called. "I really hate what I do, I really do. All the killing and the destruction; it starts to make me feel that I really am the Black Monster."

The words he said were carried on the wind. "I forgive you, Rose."
