The two walked home in awkward silence Friday night, the day growing dark. The boy and girl were silent, with a lack of topics. Over the 14 years they grew up together Nicole and Austin had spoken of all the topics imaginable.

Nicole looked at Austin in admiration, fantasizing about the

'Maybe I could gloriously fall into his arms' Nicole thought and shook her head. 'No. Tried that, and gloriously fell on my face'

"Bye" Nicole waved to Austin, her secret crush for awhile now. But still, everyone knew but him. "Yeah. See you later" He muttered and turned onto his driveway. Nicole shook her head and continued walking until she reached her driveway also.

Nicole glided into her house and slammed the door, dropping her bag against the wall. She stomped up to her room irritated. She leaned against her door and sighed. "Awkward walk home with crush? Check"she said sarcastically

Nicole sat on her bed and grabbed a pillow- her face burning from a jumble of mixed emotions. "What doesn't he like about me!" She growled digging her fingers into her pillow to channel her anger out. "Am I repulsive? To tomboyish?" The teenager punched the pillow panting from her anger due to unanswered questions.

She got up and looked in her large mirror. And girl stared back at her with vibrant green eyes and brownish-red hair. A rounded face and a little button nose. Nicole rubbed her hands that felt clammy to her now. She sighed and rubbed her forehead. "I must be over reacting" She reassured herself.

Just as she sat down on her bed the door bell rang. "Of course" She muttered and walked down the stairs slowly. She swung the front door open, putting one hand on her right hip and closing her eyes for drastic measures. "Listen kid. I don't want any cooki-"Nicole opened her eyes expecting to see a little kid about to cry from her cold words. "Y-you're not a kid!" Nicole exclaimed, her eyes growing wider. She bit her lip as her heart skipped a beat.

This was not a little kid selling cookies.
