The man hid behind the brick wall, holding the sack of money to his chest and closed his eyes, not opening them until he could hear the sirens no longer. Smirking, he pulled his beanie down and headed deeper into the alley. He stopped abruptly when he heard a scuffle on his right. Panicking for a bit, his right hand slowly reached towards his glock located on his left hip. He waited a few beats before pulling his gun free and firing a few shots where the sound came from. A rat hurriedly ran out from the location, causing the thief to heave a sigh of relief.

"I wouldn't be so sure that you're in the clear just yet."

The man with the money tensed up, tightening his grip on his gun as he slowly moved in a circle around himself.

"H-Hey, come out and show yourself!" He shouted, voice cracking towards the end. This is definitely not going according to his plan. Hearing a cackle, the criminal stopped moving completely and aimed his gun in front of him. "I mean it bitch, I'll shout yah!"

A shadow rushed passed and the man started to sweat. Before he even had time to react, something flew out of the darkness and hit his right wrist, causing him to drop his weapon. "Fuck!", the man cried out, cradling his wrist to his chest. It was silence for a few seconds with only the passing cars and his labored breaths making noise. The man slowly started to back up, knowing that if he can just make it to the end of the alley he can cut through the backyards-

Suddenly something jumped down right in front of him, causing him to let out an unmanly shriek. The man dropped the bag of money, utterly frightened.

"Please! Don't hurt me!" he pleaded. The figure tsked.

"You should have thought of the consequences before you committed the crime," A feminine voice proclaimed. She took even steps as she walked out if the shadows, body illuminated but the faint moonlight. The man hesitantly opened his eyes so he can face a...girl? He couldn't believe he'd just been scared shitless by a- 'Wait a minute...oh shit'. A teenage girl only about the age of fifteen was cladded in green tights, a red short skirt, a green short sleeved shirt, and a red Kevlar vest. Her straight, shoulder length locks blew in the cold November air as her golden R symbol shined under the street light.

"H-Hey, this isn't your city. I thought you worked with-" the man was cut short by the glare he received, some how still making it presence known through her domino mask.

"I work alone now." She said lowly as she brought her boot up and quickly knocked him out. Letting out a breath, the new ex-partner looked up and saw a green light flickering amongst the San Francisco starry night. Smirking slightly, she soon tied up the thief, alerted the authorities and left to patrol more her new city.

The nineteen year old quickly typed on her computer, clicking open multiple windows in order to get her job done fast. Now to anyone ordinary, you would think a regular nineteen year old girl was speeding away on her small laptop to get her English assignment done in the next few minutes before her college class starts. But that's for ordinary girls and this is not the case here. Dressed in her vigilante attire, Nightwing typed on her holographic computer in the newly (somewhat) restored Cave. Her team (though she wasn't sure if it was even her team anymore) was sent on an undercover op in Poland assigned by Batman. She had handed over that responsibility since it was clear they weren't taking orders from her anymore. Not that she could blamed them. This caused her to stop her work to process that thought for a moment.

Ever since the end of the invasion and the Team finding out her plan, they had given her nothing but animosity especially from the original team members. Hell, Zatanna almost killed her on the spot if the Justice League wasn't there to intervene. There had been multiple debates on whether or not she should be able to keep her status as leader. Some had voted for Batgirl to take control while others had opted for the League to once again take the reigns. Soon everyone eventually reasoned that, what with Nightwing being the first ever sidekick, being a founding member of the original Team and had the most experience than most of them combined, it was only logical for her to remain as leader. So she was able to stay by default. But that didn't make things easier.

Most of the original members had ended all interaction with her, Wally being the first to stop. It was them that felt the most betrayed by her secrets. The next would be the League, who were more disappointed than angry. The team couldn't even look or act civilized towards her. And the worst thing of all, she deserved it. She couldn't even deny that the hate was unwarranted, though it seemed like most took things a little too far. Before she even told Artemis, Kaldur and Wally she knew exactly how her plan would be perceived. She was aware that things would never be the same (never have been after Tula and Jas- the second Robin died) but if that was the price she had to pay for the survival of humanity, she would carry the blame, the hateful glares, the not-so-quiet name calling, all for the thought of one thing. I did it. We're alive.

Nobody was on her side and that was perfectly okay. Well nobody but Beast Boy. She smiled at that. He was the only member of the new team that she has known the longest (besides Robin, he was her brother). He understood her and knew why she had to do this, as she had did it before once upon a time. Thinking back to the Titan days suddenly reminded her of the task at hand.

After hearing of the security breach in Titans East, she immediately put together a new, better software for all the Titans bases. Sure it was a rush job and she wasn't exactly done yet but-

"Cyborg. T03."

-that's why Victor was here.

"Hello, hello! Did someone need a Boo-yah!" He announced as he walked up to her and stopped with his arms stretched out to his sides. She turned towards her former teammate and smiled. He changed his electronic parts from the original eye catching blue to a more subtle white/gray scheme. He 'surprisingly' had gotten taller, now towering over her by a good foot and a half. Happy to see a friendly face, she accepted Cyborg's open arms and gave in to the hug.

"Wow, Ric, first time for everything, huh?" The cyborg said, shocked at how willingly she'd giving in to his hug. Nightwing tried to smile but it ended up looking like a grimace.

"It's just nice to know not everyone is thinking the same, Cy. And with everything that's been going on, it seems like you're one of the few who will give me one so might as well take advantage of it, right?" she stated, avoiding his eye. He looked at her suspiciously, before turning towards one of the holographic screens.

"So what are we looking at?" He questioned. She explained how she had designed it so it can encrypted pass codes, multiple firewalls, and if someone did manage to get in, a virus that should wipe out the attackers hard drive in seconds.

"I already talked to Gizmo, and he said that it's brilliant, even for him." She told her partner as she thought of the former teenage villain. No matter how immature he is, no one can deny his technological genius. Though he wasn't as good as she was when she was 13, he is still one of the best.

"How's that little buzzard doing? Everything good with the Honorary Titans?" Victor question, hooking himself up to the main computer so he can add his own tweaks to the system.

"Yeah, they haven't been hacked and from what I've concluded from my last visit, their teamwork is growing. Jinx and Ravager are supposed 'besties' while Thunder and Lightning have discovered a new move with their powers." She said as she rearranged some things in her masterpiece. There was silence for a few moment until she felt a soft tug on her arm. She didn't protest when Cyborg drag her away from her current project, knowing what was coming next. Putting on a brave face, she placed her hands on her hips and turned towards him.

"Yes?" She questioned. Cyborg just looked down at her and frowned.

"You've lost weight." He said, eye giving her the up down to prove his point. Nightwing let out an aggravated sigh.

"Wow, Vic, you sure do know how to make a girl feel good." she snarked as she made to turn away. Cyborg grabbed her forearm before she could do so.

"What would he think? If he saw you like this, what would he think?" He questioned, and instantly felt guilty when he saw the girl he considered a little sister give him a sad smile.

"Unless he comes back, we'll never know what he would have thought, now will we." And with that she yanked her arm away and left the room, only to bump into Beast Boy. One look into his eyes told her he heard everything. Plastering on another smile, she rushed passed them (those who had followed: Robin, Wonder Girl, Impluse, Arsenal and Blue Beetle) and headed towards the zeta beams. Beast Boy slowly made his way into the room.

"That was a low blow dude." The changeling said. The older black male sighed.

"Yeah, I realized that but I do not regret what I said." The two looked at each other before they both encased each other in a hug. Beast Boy pulled back and looked up.

"So...wanna play some video games?"

"I told you Earthlings to leave me alone. This does not involve you." The alien said. The Kevlar clad girl looked at him with rage in her eyes.

"Excuse me? Doesn't involve us?! You think you can just come from space, destroy most of downtown, kiss me and then wreck two stores for no reason? Not to mention there are other aliens out there trying to catch you. Tell me again why this shouldn't involve us? Just give me one good reason." The girl questioned, the other three behind her (a small green boy, a big black male in a sweatshirt, and a pale girl in an indigo cloak) stayed silent, unsure of what to do.

"And why do you care if I were to be caught?" The stranger questioned, still on guard. The black male spoke up this time.

"Well we are trying to be nice." The alien male looked confused.

" 'Nice'? There is no such thing as 'nice' on my plant. The only word closest to this is...weak." He spat out, as if the word 'weak' was a curse.

"Well nice is nice and we'll stop being nice if you don't tell us what the hell is going on here!" The black one replied. Seeing as the earthlings would not leave him be if he didn't answer, the alien dropped its stance and sighed.

"Very well. My planet, Tamaran, is in...what you would call an economical and militaristic drought. My captors, the Gordanians, made a deal with my planet and are planning to deliver me to their home planet of the Citadel, where I am forced to spend the rest of my days." He said, sadness laced in his voice.

"As a prisoner?" The green one asked. The orange skinned teen shook his head.

"As a slave." He whispered. This seemed to have triggered something in the girl as she walked forward on looked the Tamarian dead in the eye.

"Alright then, that settles it. We'll make sure they won't touch you." The alien looked surprised, making the girl smile. "You're one of the good guys. We're good guys too." She looked back that the ragtag team. "Well, were still working on it, I guess. But we're just starting out and we could use another hand. That's Beast Boy, Raven, and Cyborg. And then there's me. Hi, my name's Robin." She extended her hand to the alien. He tentatively took it.

"Hello, I am the crowned prince of Tamaran. My name is Koriand'r, but in your language the closest thing translated to that is...Starbolt."

"Well Starbolt, let's go kick some Gordanian ass!"
