The day started out nice, unlike usual. I enjoyed breakfast with her. No yelling was traded between us. No-one bothered us. No flying onis or gnomes or challengers. Just a calm breakfast.
The run to school was also calm. We left in plenty of time, and didn't get sidetracked to visit people, or running across other people accosting innocents.
We arrived at the school, and found the place quiet. The bells weren't ringing...no-one was here. A note tacked to the closed gate said that school was closed for some emergency. Strange.
We turned around, and left. We talked while walking, and found ourselves in the park. She was carrying a basket I didn't notice before. "My sister made it." is what she said with a smile. We sat down, and ate slowly, still talking.
After we finished eating, we sat together, leaning against each other. Her head was leaning on my shoulder as we talked...quieter and quieter, until we were almost whispering.
The sun was setting, we talked for a long time. Just as the sun was starting to fade, she whispered, "I love you."
I felt flustered for a few seconds. The sun sank further into the horizon, when I finally whispered back, "I love you too."
We lean together, pressing our lips to each other.
Suddenly, I'm flying out the window. "Wake up Ranma!" Damnit, I knew it was too good to be true.
Breakfast is a snarling, fast thing. I look over at Akane, and she snarls, "What are YOU looking at, pervert!"
...yeah. it was too good to be true.
fin.
