After the days' adventures and nights spent under the open sky in easy companionship, he asked himself if it was truly a rurouni's kindness to see her safely to Kyoto.
She arrived into his life like a tempest- all brash enthusiasm and stubborn will.
Eyes holding in them a nature so warm and giving. Full of dreams that the very starlight seemed to be mirrored in their depths.
The will to fight. The wish to live. An innocence untarnished by life's petty struggles.
Eyes that reminded him so much of a girl he had left far behind- whose starlight he had dimmed on a summer night lit by the fireflies.
Maybe, as he glanced at her peacefully sleeping form, maybe his answer lay in protecting her happiness as well.
Author's Notes: Scribbled this as my classmates lay sleeping and the teacher wandered further off into the realm of the unknown.
Just wondered why Kenshin insisted in accompanying Misao all the way to Kyoto, given that she was probably making him a sitting duck for all of Shishio's spies.
