The diamonds in the sunlight
They flicker and flash
Capturing my eyes
And then setting them free

They rest in the skin of my perfect man.
Actually, it's the beautiful curse of a vampire
For they are drilled into his skin.
It's his burden, his prison
And he can never be released.

.

When the sun comes out,
he hides himself away.
To him, it's proof he's a monster.
To me, it's the mark of an angel.
But I can't seem to convince him.

.

He's been taking me to the meadow more these days.
And we lay there together,
as if we're the only ones breathing.
Suddenly, the sun bathes his skin in diamonds.
And he looks so damn guilty.

I reach my hand up to his face.
He looks into my eyes with shame.
I look at him with exasperation in my eyes.
I'm so plain next to his shining body.
And he's upset because he doesn't look human.

I move my hand up into his hair
and kiss his cold lips.
Just something innocent to keep him here.
"Edward? Don't be mad.
You just look like you've been kissed by an angel."

He shakes his head in disbelief,
as if I'm crazy for seeing his beauty.
But he won't say a word.
No, he will not start a fight.
He knows something big is about to happen.

My 18th birthday is coming.
I can feel the storm is near.
And I'm afraid that I might lose him.
So I'll hold on tighter
And pray that today lasts forever.

AN: Okay, so here is the part where I try to explain why I've been so lazy on here. Ready for this? Play practice keeping me out till 11 at night. Play performances. High school and college taking up my days and then my nights. Two papers. My AP teacher. And a... blue period. You know... sadness? And sorry for the lame excuses!
