The Future

(One shot)

I watched her as she waddled down the stairs with a grin on her face. Her honey-brown eyes had a sparkle to them I had never seen before.

When she reached the last step I walked to her and took her small dainty hands in mine. "How are you doing Mrs Morris?" I asked loving the way Mrs Morris slipped off my tongue.

Maddy giggled like a giddy school girl and kissed me lightly on the lips. "We have a kicker" She pointed at her swollen belly while using her other hand to take mine. "Please say he wont like football" I joked and leaned down to kiss her stomach.

Maddy laughed. I always found her laugh so beautiful. I once recorded it so I could listen to it when I wanted to but it was not the same feeling as making her laugh in person. To watch those pink lips curl up against her teeth in a wide grin. Her cheeks gaining a slight rose tint and her eyes lighting up.

"Rhydian?" Maddy waved a hand in front of my face. I shook my head and then turned my attention to my 6 month pregnant wife. Yes, my wife!

"Shannon wants to have a baby shower and Tom called asking if you wanted to get a beer with him tomorrow" Maddy listed off as she tugged on my hand to lead me to the kitchen.

"I don't mind the beer but a baby shower?!" I made a face and Maddy flicked me on the end of my nose. "Ow!" I whine and rub my nose. "This bouncing baby boy has been beating the living day lights out of my bladder! And it is all your fault so suck it up, we are having this baby shower and that is final" Maddy stuck out her tongue at me and I stepped forward and licked it. "Ew!" Maddy yelped and pulled back giggling. "Don't stick it out then!" I mocked her voice and closed in and kissed her lips.

"Rhydian what am I going to do with you?" Maddy laughed again as I pulled her close until her swollen stomach met mine. "How about love me, feed me and never leave me" I listed kissing her in-between each word.

"I will always love you, I may starve you every now and again. And Rhydian" I hummed for her to continue. "I can't leave you and you know why?" I looked into her eyes and urged her to go on. "Pregnant ladies can't run for toffee!" She pinched me in the sides and quickly waddled off to the door as someone had knocked.

I let out a sigh and grinned at my family.

Yeah my family. A beautiful wife, and a soon to be beautiful son. I hope he is like Maddy when he is born.

Little River Gage Morris. A knew adventure.
