I've had this finished for quite a while but I only bothered to upload it now. The story was mainly inspired by Sakura's expression when looking at the interaction between Hinata and Naruto. Contains spoilers from ch. 615.
"Neji... Died..!?"
The words resonated through her, sending chills up her spine. Her mouth was agape as she stared blankly in front of her. Sakura was never close to Neji, but they were in the same age group, and they were comrades, so his death still affected her.
This was war, and because of that, she expected people to die; but for some reason, she never thought about them, the Konoha Eleven, dying, and certainly not the genius from the Hyuuga clan.
Her gaze traveled across the battlefield to Naruto, who was kneeling on the ground with Neji's bloody corpse on him. He was even more shocked than her; his expression was completely horrified, and in that moment, Sakura wanted nothing more than to go be by his side and console him, telling him that everything would be all right and that Neji died to protect him, so he couldn't let that go to waste.
One of the men atop the ten-tailed monster spoke to Naruto, but she couldn't really make out what he was saying, as she was too far away. It was some nonsense about death and loneliness. Sakura had the urge to punch him with all her might for all the pain he caused in the past, all the pain he was causing right now.
Suddenly she saw a hand raise up and slap Naruto's cheek — it was Hinata's. Sakura hadn't noticed her before, but there she was, sitting across from the blond. What was she doing?
Hinata's expression softened, and Sakura could make out a smile. Her lips moved as her small voice formed quiet words, no doubt reassuring words that Sakura herself wanted to say. The pink-haired kunoichi still had a stricken look on her face, but not just because of Neji's death anymore. Her heart pounded inside her chest as the scene unfolded in front of her. She didn't know what to think of this: Hinata's hand caressing his face, Naruto looking into her eyes. Her lip quivered as the jinchuuriki gently took Hinata's hand off his face and stood, never letting go. The Hyuuga heiress stood up next to him.
"It's thanks to you that stayed at my side," she heard him declare. They were standing side by side. Naruto's form changed and lit up, his yellow chakra igniting both him and the girl next to him. "Let's get this show on the road, Hinata!"
Everyone's watching you.
You finally got what you always wanted... To be acknowledged.
Sakura bit her lower lip. I... I can't do much, but... she thought, I'll support you, in whatever way I can...!
A gentle breeze ruffled her hair and tickled her cheeks. Naruto... With Hinata by your side, you won't lose!
And she smiled, even as tears stung her eyes.
