Sasuke thinks Naruto is an idiot.
And, Sasuke thinks, that the notion is only enforced by the demonstration the blond has just performed right in front of him.
These thoughts pass through the ravens head in less then a few seconds of course. Large encompassing thoughts like that often have time to at moments like these, because time slows down.
Figuratively of course. Not in reality, Otherwise Sauske would have taken the opportunity to push the blond back out of the way and taken out the enemy before the blade could hit either of them.
But, since he didn't have the time, the weapon pierced flesh, and Sasuke, now having escaped being mortally wounded, takes out the enemy with less brutality then what would make him comfortable.
But right now he doesn't have the time to torture and drag out the other nin's death- even if it is deserved- because time has sped up it seems and even in his mind he doesn't have long enough to squeeze out more then what pours out of his mouth as he pulls the fallen blond into his lap.
"You idiot." he snaps. Which, in retrospect, was a rather hash thing to say too some one who had just saved your life- although, it didn't make the words any less true.
Still, Naruto understands and hears the soft and unsaid: 'why?' in the words. And he smiles- because that's what Naruto does, and he takes a shuddering breath, because that blade is in impressively deep an all, and his voice comes out a little quieter, but no less brighter, then before.
"Because it was my turn is all."
Yes. Sasuke knows Naruto is an idiot.
This is because Sasuke and Naruto (twisted) camaraderie starts with Sasuke's sacrifice for Naruto in the land of waves. Here, it ends that way too… kinda.
You can pretend Naruto dies if you like, I guess.
