Act 1 scene 5
Hearing footsteps, Hamlet looked up and saw Marcellus and Horatio coming towards him.
"My lord, are you well? What happened?" Horatio was as blunt as always.
"My dear friends, can you keep a secret? Swear you'll tell no one about the events of this night." A chill wind seemed to echo hamlet's words.
"My lord, we swear our lips will be locked. We will take this secret to the grave and beyond."
Hamlet sighed. "Alright, alright. The specter said he was the ghost of my father, the late king, doomed to wander the earth during the night for a time. He alleged that his death was no accident. What's more, he stated that the one who dripped poison in his ear as he slept was the same one who now wears the crown."
"The king," Marcellus gasped. Horatio had a similar expression of horror on his face.
"Shhh! It is treason we are discussing." Hamlet looked at the pair sternly.
"The ghost purported that it wished me to avenge it. For the queen, who shares the guilt, the ghost bade me to do nothing, 'leave her to heaven' it said."
Marcellus and Horatio looked at him with wide eyes.
"This is serious stuff. What will I do?" Hamlet asked despairingly.
Horatio and Marcellus gave Hamlet a manly, macho hug. "Don't worry My Lord, we will think of something."
