'Today's the day. I've given up. Permanently.' Naruto thought as he bleakly looked at the rushing river below him. What the hell are you talking about? 'I'm committing suicide. Today we're supposed to go to Life's Edge, a cliff. I saw it as my opportune moment.' He answered. No way I'm letting you kill yourself. 'Good thing I got that demon-suppressing drug.' Naruto thought. Then he took it. Afterwards the nine-tailed fox was silent.
'There's the dobe.' Sasuke thought. 'But there's something different about him today...' He finished.
"Hey dobe, you mind telling me what's going on in that brain of yours?" Sasuke asked. He was expecting a simple answer. He got a long, complicated one instead. "Not even bothering to say 'hello'? Looks like you mean business. So I'll tell you. I'm like the river down there. The mask on top, always doing what's expected. But underneath, being wild and crazy. That's what's going on in my mind." Naruto answered. Sasuke was shocked.
After Sakura and Kakashi showed up, Kakashi began telling the tale of Life's Edge. "There were 1,000 kids from all different villages, towns and cities who gathered together at Life's Edge. They wrote one big letter on stone with their own blood and ended it with 'Fates sealed in blood and stone'. They said that because a stone with blood on it never cracks or chips away. It stays whole. So all those kids jumped off the cliff afterwards. Ever since, kids from all over have jumped off that cliff, writing stone letters and ending it the same way." Sasuke gave Naruto a concerned look.
Naruto wrote on a stone slab with his own blood, and this is what he wrote:
I've hidden myself all along from the Leaf Village. I did what was expected of me.
But now all of that is over.
On this day of July 2, 2007,
I, Naruto Uzumaki, have committed suicide.
Sasuke, you were closest to me. I wonder if I had shown my true self, we could have been friends.
Sakura, I never did like you. You were always annoying. I HATE YOU.
Kakashi-sensei, you have my respect. I looked up to you.
Iruka-sensei, you were kind and thoughtful. We had some good times together.
But all and all, I regret nothing.
Tell the Leaf Village that the horrible monster, Naruto Uzumaki, is dead.
His inner self interupted.
'Are you sure about this?'
'I'm sure.'
'Ok then. I'm with you all the way.'
Then he finished.
Goodbye everyone.
Fate sealed in blood and stone,
Naruto Uzumaki.
Afterwards, he placed his stone by the so many others that had jumped off that cliff.
"Naruto, you're not thinking of jumping off, are you?" Sasuke asked, crying.
"Sasuke, I don't think so, I know so. It's sealed in blood and stone." Naruto coldly replied.
"NARUTO, WAIT!" Sasuke shouted.
But it was too late.
He had already jumped.
It was late at night. "Hey Sasuke, where's Naruto? We need to get going." Sakura said. "I agree with Sakura, go get Naruto." Kakashi agreed. "I can't. It's impossible." Sasuke exclaimed. "Why?" asked Sakura. "He sealed his fate in blood and stone." Sasuke replied, crying. "What do you mean?" Sakura asked. "Naruto jumped off Life's Edge. He's dead." Sasuke said, crying even harder. "I just wish I could of gone with him. I'll show you guys the stone he left." Sasuke said. Then they walked off.
