How to Train a Dragon Rider
Set after HTTYD 2. Hiccup is the new Chief on Berk. Toothless is a new dragon Alpha and Astrid is still just the Chief's girlfriend…for now.:) This story will be in Astrid and Hiccup's POV.
Chapter 1
Astrid
The sun was just beginning to rise above the eastern horizon. Stormfly and I flying our usual morning route over Berk. The cold air coming from the wild north chills me while we patrol our home. The village is mostly rebuilt and the people's spirits are high because today is the official celebration of our new chief. Who just happens to be my boyfriend Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III.
As Stormfly and I circled back around to my home, I see a curious site. Hiccup standing nervously at my front door. Why he would be here instead of getting ready with Gothi I don't have the slightest idea.
"What are you doing here?" I asked with a smile on my face.
"What, what can't a guy greet his amazing girlfriend after she comes home from a patrol of the island?" He replies sheepishly. Then his face gets a little more serious. "Can we go somewhere more private? I have to talk to you about something."
My mind is racing as we head into the woods, our dragons following us at a distance. Is he breaking up with me? Is he having second thoughts about being chief? Second thoughts about us?
We head to the cove where Toothless was once trapped and where I first started falling in love with this strange human being. We sit by the small lake and just talk about every day things for a little bit.
Then Hiccup gets up, pulling me up with him.
"Astrid, you have been my friend for a long time. And my love for even longer. I've been in love with you since we were stupid kids trying not to get killed by dragons." Then he gets down on his good knee, holding a silver ring made from Grockle Iron. "Astrid Hofferson will you do me the greatest honor and marry me?"
