I remember it like it was yesterday, it was June 2008 and I went for a bike ride with my cousins. I was in the back with my cousin Danielle in the front and Jordan in the middle. We were biking by a stream and we always looked in it, i looked in and saw this old orange dog with a white muzzle. It growled at me so i told my cousins to stop. We hopped off of or bikes and walked over to the stream. I said "Do you see an orange dog with a white muzzle?" they both said "No...why?" so i said "Never mind." We got on our bikes and biked away, until i said lets walk to that stream again. I grabbed a rope and they said "Why did you grab that?" I responded "For that dog." they both looked at me like i was weird and we got back to the stream I saw the dog sitting there.
I went to hook the rope onto the chain around the dogs neck the rope and my arm went through the dogs neck. I relized I was seeing a ghost dog! I turned to my cousins and said "I guess it left" and hopped out of the we were walking back i relized something, i saw that dog 8 years ago when it was 2 weeks old, you were sitting with you mother. I knew that dog his name was Buddy and he died last summer. I asked Danielle "Do you remember Buddy?" she said "Yea he was adorable, but didnt he die last summer?" i responded "Yea, wasn't he big and orange?" Jordan said "Yes, he was" I looked back and saw Buddy standing there like he always did glaring at anyone who noticed him. I loved that dog and will always love him.
He was a great dog that lived next door to my grandparents but no one ever relized when he went missing except for my family. Until that one cold summer when Buddy never came home. We looked every single time until that day on April 15th. We got a phone call, the police found Buddy, but he died. Buddy came home that day wrapped up in a blanket. My cousin Mike said "The last memory we have of him was him playing fetch with us." R.I.P. Buddy. We miss you. I see you every day next to me protecting me but no one else can see you. You are sitting next to me with that silly green rubber ball we gave you in 2000, 6 years before you left us. Buddy your owners replaced you with another big orange dog that ignores us, 2 weeks after you died. I am the only one that can see you laying under the tree we all sit under. Hoping it wasn't you they found, but lying doesnt help the pain. I see that smile you make when you see us playing a game, but it isn't the same without you barking and wagging your tail whenever we kicked the ball, ran or hid. Wag your tail baby boy, wag you tail.
Buddy 4/19/1999 - 6/19/2007. Exactly 8 years and two months old.
We miss you. We wish you never left us. You can never be replaced. BUDDY
