A/N: Side note to Supernatural kids? The same actor who played Carmen played the ghost in the pilot episode of Supernatural, who kept saying "Take me home" and got all up on Sam. IT'S PRACTICALLY LIKE SHANE AND DEAN ARE MAKING OUT. If you squint and like stand on your head.
She finds Shane on the couch, huddled under the Strawberry Shortcake blanket from the hall closet. "Hey."
Shane turns and blinks up at her over the back of the sofa, face chalky in the glow from the TV. "Hey."
"Got your message." Carmen passes a hand over Shane's warm forehead and into her voluptuous bedhead. "How are you? You OK?"
"Mm. Fine." Shane melts into the cushions under Carmen's soothing hands.
"You have a fever."
Shane snuffles non-commitally, eyes shut in rapt attention.
"I brought soup."
"Oh, yeah?"
"When's the last time you ate?"
Shane grimaces, eyes flicking up to hers. "Uh. I'm fine. I don't need that."
"Aww, baby." Carmen slips onto the love seat and nestles in behind Shane. She wraps her arms around her and snuggles the whole length of her, kisses the back of her product-smelling head. "You feel really shitty, huh?"
Shane rolls, nuzzles into Carmen's chest and shivers. Chilly fingers find Carmen's waist under her shirt. She inhales deeply, presses a kiss to one breast and sighs. "Nah."
Carmen tucks Shane's wild hair behind her ear, pulls the blanket up and smoothes it tight across Shane's back. She touches her lips to the hot forehead, eyes the flickering screen. "What are we watching?"
"Fuck if I know." The voice is soft and hoarse and comes from the vicinity of Carmen's boobs.
Stroking Shane's back through the blanket, she digs up the remote and clicks off the TV. Then she starts humming a Mexican lullaby. In the dark, she passes her palms over Shane's head, the back of her neck, her bony shoulder blades, the sweet curve of her spine, over and over. When the song ends, the house is silent except for a light, wheezy snore.
