I push the needle into her arm. "Thank you, Ms. Haruno." She winces while I stick a band-aid onto her wrist.
"There you go! Bye!" I tally her off. She is the fifty-second person to receive the flu shot today, since we opened the clinic this morning. Fifty-two disposable needles in our stainless steel garbage can. Fifty –two doses of Rimantadine. Fifty- two people protected with Flumadine®. And fifty-two new vampires. By the next fortnight, when dusk falls, there will be fifty-two new vampires prowling the streets. Fifty-two new vampires that would feed upon our unsuspecting population. Fifty-two, to prowl and hunt with the rest of us.
You might never know. That flu shot waiting for you tomorrow might have you feeding along with us. Sasuke, I'll be waiting. For you get your influenza vaccination.
