Anthony DiNozzo walked slowly back into the now broken home, empty sobs still being emitted from his partner, Ziva David, echoed among the empty walls. She was still in the position he'd left her; on the floor, cradling the lifeless form of her father, her Aba.

"Zi…it's time to go." He murmured in her ear as he placed a gentle hand on her shoulder and allowed her to crumble into his touch for just a moment before she let him lead her out of the house and away from her father. Ziva didn't look back when Dr. Mallard and Mr Palmer quietly entered the house she just left to collect the body of her father, nor did she speak a word, she simply followed where her partner was leading her by the hand.

They arrived at Tony's apartment 15 minutes later, silence still brewing between them although Ziva's broken sobs had ceased there was simply determination, grief and confusion shining through her brown orbs. It wasn't supposed to be this way, he was supposed to be invincible, he was supposed to be there so she could finally forgive him and they could have a normal relationship. He was the last of her blood family, and now he was gone too.

Tali. It should be Tali, Ziva thought. She was the most loving, the one with compassion. Tali was supposed to live the longest, to do good and make others happy, Tali was the one whom everybody thought would complete her time at the army and then live a happy life with children and a husband who loved her. It was Ziva who did not expect to out live her family.

Ari was the strongest, the warrior. Ari was the one who protected Ziva when she needed it, and now, when she needed him most, he was gone. Because she killed him.

No, Ziva was not supposed to out live them, especially not the man she thought was invincible, the man who taught her to fight and told her not to love. The man she still loved through it all, even when her caused her unimaginable pain. Her Aba was supposed to be invincible.

"Ziva, we're here. Ziva.. come on." Tony's calm voice pulled her out of her revive and she clung to his presence like a lifeline because she was just so confused. How did it become this way? How was she the only one left?

Just when she was beginning to feel completely alone in the world she felt the warmth of Tony's hand in hers and she knew, that just maybe, she'd be ok, that she wasn't the last one in her family. Her family was Gibbs, and Abby, McGee, Ducky, Jimmy and even Vance. Especially Tony. She realised then that her blood family may be gone but they all lived on in her heart, Tali's passion, Ari's strength, her father's bravery and her mother's love. It was time for Ziva to live for them all.
